Has anyone else picked this up? I'm halfway through it at the moment (been reading it whenever I visit the loo) and it's been relatively enjoyable so far.

It's a great book! I was expecting much less ... but when I finally came to the last chapter (I read this book for about a year ago) I felt heartwarming ... people MUST read the last chapter of the book because it explains a lot of the (seemingly) odd things about him. For instance: he never spoke about his parents and how things come across in his early youth ... WHY it's important ... things like that. I know that Bernard always did the right thing for New Orders sake.
One of the best books I read about New Order and related aspects.
I enjoyed it at the beginning, especially when it was specifically about our hero's upbringing but gradually it just morphed into another history of NO which I've read/seen/heard so many times before. I like Barney's interjections every now and then...like an ep of Grumpy Old Men :)

Anyway, cracking book although a bit short; I finished it in about two afternoons. Bit underwhelming when he went "Right I'm going to reveal Bernard Sumner's real name for the first time ever etc. and followed it up with "it's Bernard Sumner" 
Overall though not a bad read and did reveal quite a few unknowns regarding Bernard's parentage as well as a few other events surrounding the band mythology and internal relationships (did Gillian really think Hooky was a sexist pig?).
Nice guy Mr Nolan... met him in Manc some time ago along with a few other Vikings pre-some gig or other and he seemed happy to chat with us which is always refreshing; Al normally scares them off

I understand what you're saying there- for me it's like striking a balance between being a super nosy obsessive fan and the things that are clearly 'nunyah'
I also think Bernard's quotes make the book- I especially like the one about Terry being a dreamer and Ian's best mate.
