Warners statement

Found this on the Cerysmatic site:-

"Warner Bros. UK, Rhino and New Order regret that the initial pressings of the Collector Editions of "Movement", "Power, Corruption & Lies", "Low-Life", "Brotherhood" and "Technique" contain some minor audio problems on the bonus discs. We are now in the process of correcting the problems, but it should be noted that due to the age and condition of some of the original source tapes, the sound quality may vary. A further statement will be issued once the corrected product is available. At that time, the procedure for exchanging CD's will be announced. Thank you for your patience while we resolve this situation."

An acknowledgment is better than nothing, and I am pleased to hear that something will be done about it. I'm holding off on buying the Rhino US versions until I know for sure I am going to be able to buy the corrected ones... no doubt after the audiophiles on this board have a go and certify it with charts of course.

I shall continue to hold fire on these. How will we know that the corrected versions have hit the shops and why are they still selling faulty copies?

It's concerning they don't mention the audio issues on the albums themselves or fixing them. ONLY the bonus discs. :\ohwell:

I hope they WILL fix this in the new year ... but I didn't understand the 'minor' statement also They will look at the album-CD's also from what I understand lately.

Rhino in the US knew about the problems and went ahead with the release anyways. Very cynical move.

Anyway, if they make good on their pledge to set things straight that'll be ok in my books and they'll likely make some more money off me.

just bought 2 ("PCL & "Brotherhood") of the four remasters, but after reading warner acknowledgment statement, i went to return these damn thing . i will wait for the re-re-releases myself.

meanwhile, i'll just listen to the original pressings.

Is it just me, or am I the only one (American) one who hasn't found the remasters that terrible? Keep in mind, I've played PCL & Technique Bonus Discs in my Hyundai Elantra's stereo, & haven't tried $150+ headphones, so what do I know?\

I've asked for the remaining 3 for Xmas, so hopefully by then Rhino(plasty) will have sorted the issue & I can do a simple same-for-swap at Best Buy (not holding my breath though).

Or "Round & Round" on Technique - not as glaringly obvious as "Touched By The Hand Of God", but enough for a mate of mine to ask me if I'd heard it yet...

I don't have an expensive hi-fi, just played it on my computer through relatively-crappy PC speakers...

What really galls me about the above two examples is that they're already on CD - at the very least they could have just done a WAV to WAV transfer...

Ah well, they'll be fixed by early(ish) next year...

Oh, and vinyl to CD transfers can be done if it properly goes through the mastering process... I know of a couple of examples (with different bands) where the record company took the time to master off vinyl, and the results sound great...
