Having seen the poxy state of the artefacts in the Saville show they could save themselves a load of work by sourcing some vinyl in really good nick to start with....

In the UK it's more a case of not pressing any more beyond the first batch until the new versions are ready.
You should see all stocks running out in the shops by now.

Once the re-remasters are complete, Rhino will set out how they plan to exchange faulty CDs (according to their recent e-mail).

Guys, CDs are, how to say not to offend you lot, well they are obsolete like vynil audio cassettes. No one is going to invest lots of money into "re-mastering" unless it's a guaranteed sellout. Everything's digital. BUY MP3!
Of course, Warners are doing this recalling only because of the whinning and moaning that NOOL sank into.
Don't know if it has been mentioned, but does this implied recall just apply to the UK, or everywhere? I'll assume the worst.

Rubbish, there are plenty of decently remastered CDs released every year.
For example, the recent "The Sound of The Smiths" compilation had the same corporate backing as the New Order remasters (Warner Brothers, Rhino etc) and I can personally attest that those CDs sound really good... clear, crisp, non-compressed and a definite improvement over the original 80s/90s CDs which sound very muddy by comparison. If Johnny Marr can make the effort to ensure his previous band's back catalogue is treated with care and respect then I really don't see why it's beyond any member of New Order.
The Smiths also tend occupy the same "Manchester 80s indie alternative" area of music as New Order (to Americans anyway) so I would imagine Warners - an American company - had similar sales expectations for both. Why give The Smiths preferential quality treatment?

No thanks, I'd rather have music in a non-compressed medium. Despite what you say, there is still a clear demand for that sort a full quality format even if CD sales have declined.

Yes, and your point here is...? Of course the fans recognised we were flogged a shite product and demanded changes. That's the whole point of complaining so that things may be corrected or improved the next time. We aren't talking about a dodgy singles compilation; these were meant to be the definitive remasters of a band's back catalogue and had a fair amount of expectation riding on them. Not to mention at Warner's total RRP for all five came close to £75 which is a great deal of money for most fans.
What an odd post from "barcode", trying to combine "I hate to tell you guys but" with the BLINDINGLY OBVIOUS. There was no excuse for some of the quality errors on these releases and the fanbase should be pleased they managed to turn the tide here.
Best of luck to Claude Flowers in repairing them.

i, myself prefer to have the actual cd, rather than a compressed audio media.
Ally, I think you're right about the crap remasters being collector items. I checked recently on Amazon. Ebay etc and HMV and they are going up in value, I'll wait now until the new remaster are done
It's a good thing that I didn't spend my money yet on the remasters. I hope that they can do it right.
