Bernard also sports Nike and Converse, which he talked about at the Danze awards.

they have all worn loads of adidas in the last few years, sure I heard them say it was sponsored.

Yes there's some bloke who pushes Adidas gear on all the Manc music lot.

Silly idea, if you ask me. As if we're all going to start wearing Adidas clothes and shoes just because some daft pop stars wears them.

Its true that during the 05-06 tours, Barney wore a lot of Adidas stuff as it was basically SWAG from the Adidas fellow in Manchester....

But I think Bernard has always simply liked Adidas, because he uses to wear Adidas shoes all the time back in the 1980's, I've seen several live concert shots of him from 87 to 89 where he has Adidas shoes on.

He also used to wear Fred Perry polo shirts quite a bit back in the mid 1980's. He wore a lot of nice polo shirts on 05 and 06 tours....but I don't know who makes them.

I really like the shirt he is wearing in the Glasgow DVD as well. I like the little clored stripe on his shoulder (the "birdshit") it reminds me of the color bar on the Blue Monday sleeve.

I also like the polo he is wearing while being interviewed during the Joy Division film. I think it may be the same one he wore during the Glasgow concerts.

He also also wearing a very nice black double breasted jacket with wing tipped lapels during that interview. Classy.

I also have to say they I really like the way Bernard dressed 1979-1981. Short dyed black hair with a side parting (very Kraftwerk), fitting trousers or jeans with the cuffs rolled, black shoes, white dress shirts with neckties and sometime V necked sweaters....very very sharp and smart.

And I would have to say my favorite barney hair cut is the one he has in The Perfect Kiss video. Sharp!

Obviously I am putting off real work by writing all of this.

Sadly, no. I am still laid off and still looking for a new job. The work I was putting off was for University...I graduate from OSU this quarter.

I appreciate your good words though. This was about the worst possible time I could have been laid off. Me and a gazillion others!

so smart in the early 80's, i love it.

but then they sorta lost it.

take hooky fro example, look at what he wore in the Taras gig in 81 then pumped full of drugs in 85

yeah, HUGE difference.

but he pulls it off...:confused2:

bernard never went too crazy though. the short shorts with black loafers and white tube socks is a classic look....right:nod:

I actually thought Bernard pulled off the short shorts with loafers look pretty well..I mean, I couldn't pull that off! I don't know why he started dressing that way...influence of NY electro/hip hop scene, maybe?

You are right, they did dress really sharp and smart in the early 80s. They lost it indeed...Hooky especially.

Though I do love the sweatpants he wears onstage in Pumped Full of Drugs. He is also wearing the same pair of sweat pants with his leather jacket in The Perfect Kiss video. They are grey sweat pants with zippers on the pockets! Ah Hooky.
