Hey peeps :)

I just got The Best of album and was wondering if there are any other songs worth purchasing that are as good as the songs on here.

I'm completely new to NO, and I'm a big Depeche Mode fan (please, don't hurt me!) and want to get into NO some more.

So far, my fave songs are Regret and Bizarre Love Triangle.

Thanks, Ben

Have you ever seen me write how much I like Depeche Mode here?

You're assuming that only because Muffy labelled me as something equivalent as "a f*cking Depeche Mode fan" who wishes New Order would be the same, or something like that.

Well in any case, let it be known that BOTH of the webmasters here are Depeche Mode fans, and have been for YEARS (1987 ?).

Let it be known that I am also a very loyal Pet Shop Boys (1985) fan and Cure fan (1990).

So I am always opened to speak about these bands. :)

(As for the flamers... prepare for extinction!!!!! MMMmmmmmmmmmmmmuhahahahaha).

I wasn't going by what anyone else had stated - you have mentioned Depish....sorry Depeche, a few times, this is why I picked up on it:D

Notice how you've strayed off topic - you should be ashamed:moon:

And Nicos - you don't get away with it either....I'm disappointed in you an all!

Ben also check out Substance fer all the singles between 81 & 87, then Technique 1989 (most peoples fave album) and more recently Get Ready 2001.

They will soon overtake Depish in your musical mind;)

Note to everyone: That's how you go from O/T to ON TOPIC:D

Me, too...a PSB fan since 'Please' LP...but must admit 'Release' was not that crash hot....a disappointing, actually, even with those Marr contributions....

I like Fat Bob since the days of 'F.I.R.E. in Cairo'.... and at least 'Bloodflowers' was pretty good.... and also that 2 Sydney gigs in Nov 2000 - both lasted 2.5 hours each....or were they 3 hours?

OK.....

BEN,

I think you should buy the 1985 release 'LOWLIFE'..... thats my NUMERO UNO NEW ORDER album.....compact, short but full of everything, guitars, disco, moody instrumental

and every song here is a killer even rarely mentioned tracks like 'sooner than you think' & 'Face Up' are soooo unique...

I have about 2000 CDs in my collection now but I've made sure that my very first CD is a New Order CD...and it's LOWLIFE!!!

...( unfortunately, my second CD was WHAM:the Final..... )

OK....THOUSANDS AND MILLIONS OF APOLOGIES, BEN....

....for failing to point out that The Cure's 'Head On The Door' contains the all time classic 'In-between Days'...

Better still, check out the ORIGINAL.... it is in New Order's debut 1981 Movement...the song's called 'DREAMS NEVER END'.....Absolute classic, just listen to the way the song builds up....TIMELESS GEM!!!

( dont have to buy the whole album though, coz u'll be sorely disappointed.....buy THE BEST OF - US version, instead...it has more guitar tracks.... )

It's true Shuggy :D I've been a Depeche Mode fan before I was a New Order fan, Sébastien is the one that got me into New Order. I possess all Depeche Mode albums & most of the singles and a lot of rare material...

In fact, I always considered myself a better DM fan than New Order, I've seen them 4 times in concert in Montréal while New Order never bothered to show up here!!

But I must say, Depeche Mode and our province (Québec) has a mega love story, they still fill arenas here and will always do (Depeche Mode), they always start their world tour in Montréal for some reason, and even if their last two albums missed IMHO Alan Wilder and this is why they weren't as good as the previous two, I'm still a fan.

But I must admit that Get Ready is a far better album than Exciter, but at least for Exciter I managed to see the band live in my town :D 1993 is a long way down, I'd be quite happy to see the Order tour in the east coast of North America sooner or later..

As for other bands, see my profile to see what I like :D

You should know, Ben, that most folks here consider Slow Jam and We All Stand to be tied as the all-time best New Order songs.

WE ALL STAND only sounds good when it reaches AT THE END OF THE ROAD.......

Nope, I see on all of the DM albums and compilations that it features on that it was written by a Mr M. L. Gore in 1989. You must be mistaken.

Bah, ETS is better than any New Order song I bet! :-D **runs away VERY, VERY fast**

Exciter was a big disappointment for me. Yeah I like it, but it's not as good as Violator or SOFAD or even Ultra.

Needs more Alan Wilder.
