I just got my hands on the soundboard recording of the Roskilde show (for a soundboard recording, it's not that good... 6/10), and I think it's probably one of the worst vocal performances by Barney.

His voice would maybe be a little better if he wouldn't be shouting and screaming all the time!

After Brutal, he says "I'm fucked".

For those who heard it or were there, did it look like he was completely drunk? He sure sounds like it!!!

How do you people get this stuff??? I bet your not going to tell me! I just got the Paris 2001 gig last week, after 1/2 a year of looking for it. I look at all the sites and all the audio sharing sites, and I still cant find it. I do have the last 4 songs of the show from the great Brasil site, but I'm still in search of the rest of the show?

Went to all the 8 European shows this summer & this performance doesn't stand out in the memory as being a particularly bad one. By Barney or any of 'em.

I don't think Barney's got the kinda voice that lends it'self to live recordings on the whole. I find his between song banter more entertaining than anything else when I get me hands on a gig recording. He seems to communicate passion for his cause these days by a-whoopin' & a-hollerin' or randomly screaming out bits of lyrics. Dunno why. Close Range has been a real victim of this.

Just count yourself lucky Seb you've got an audio & not a DVD of Barney singing Brutal. He does this naff circling/lassooing motion with his right hand over his head when he sings 'the sound in my head goes round & round....' bit.

Not gonna slate him for being unfit. After the usual opening salvo of Crystal/Transmish/Regret/Ceremony I'm fuct aswell. Reckon at 46 yrs both him & Hooky are doing alright.

Jim, I'll send you the e-mail address of a lad who'll get you a CDR of any of the European gigs from the last year. And lots more besides.

are you serious?:eek2: i heard he's a bad dancer, but i didn't think he'd be that cheesey!:nonono: don't you just wish for the days where he'd just hang onto the microphone with his eyes to the shoes?

But Snucksy, he stopped that once he started wearing trainers...

Plus he knows (most) of the words now, so 'e doesn't have to keep looking down at 'em.

There was a radio broadcast of the Roskilde-Gig 2002 yesterday on German radio! But only parts of it. They played Ceremony, 60mph, Close Range, Atmosphere, She's Lost Control, Temptation, BLT, Blue Monday, LWTUA. Sound quality was pretty good!

Does he 'ell, he's got two monitors at his feet nowadays! ;)

Oh, and like JG says, I don't remember Barney being particularly off colour at Roskilde. Then again, we couldn't get as close as our usual spot due to the bloody crowd control system.

Your sig's wrong Chris - Royal Albert was Oct 86. Remember it well as I gave up me ticket for that gig cos I started Uni that day. Silly me. :nonono:
