What do you all think to the Strokes, and the fact that they entered the charts higher than GetReady in the UK album charts.
From what I've heard the album sounds raw but catchy at the same time. I haven't listened to the hype so I can listen to them without any NME influenced opinions. NME still wank over bands, build 'em up and then shoot 'em down. Anybody remember BIS and Meanswear. Wonder if that will happen with the Strokes?!?

Before i opened this post and just saw the title, my immediate reaction was... "The Strokes, NME's wankfest". I agree totally. Not my cup of tea, and I get pissed off reading aout how fucking marvellous they are in NME every week.... all a bag of shite if you ask me...

I quite liked a track I heard on the radio recently, not sure what the title is, but they look like they have just come out of an early 1980's 'alternative' timewarp.
I think they've been around every Oxfam shop on the Planet to get that dull late 70's look. The Beastie Boys did it with humour and style on Sabotage, but The Jokes look like they are trying just a little bit too hard.
In answer to your question: not much. Liv summed them up nicely. What's the point in making music that does nothing but look back? I have some Velvet Underground on vinyl - I don't need The Strokes, thanks very much.
