4. The Finsbury show potentially on DVD in November

5. The Recycle box set in the works

6. A new album early 2003

I can live with that.

And no doubt more live outings for you locals when the album appears.

A couple of years ago, Nick Darby, an A&R exec at U.K.'s DMC Records was talking with some colleagues about a great weekend that included a trip back to his house after a night of drinking to spin some records into the wee hours. "When the clubs were closing down, someone would always say 'OK, back to mine,'" says Darby. "The drinks were poured, people would pull out their records -- the more obscure the better -- and we'd just go on and on." The recognition of the previous weekend's revelry soon turned into Back to Mine, a series of late-night mixes that reflected influences, inspiration and a general desire to be as obscure as possible. Darby went to the world's top DJs and electronic music acts for their contributions, and the result was a series that has to date included mixes by Nick Warren, Morcheeba, Groove Armada, Danny Tenaglia, Everything But the Girl, Talvin Singh and -- hitting stores today -- British techno godfathers Orbital. Mancunian mainstays New Order are up next in August, and Darby hopes to nail down Moby and Primal Scream for future releases.

In addition to the one-off gig and possible new album and tour, a New Order box set will be hitting stores late summer/early fall. The set will contain all 22 of the band's singles (released separately in two boxes of 11 enhanced-CD singles). Each disc will tentatively include the original 7- and 12-inch versions of the song, the video, live footage and possibly the computer software that was used to originally create the track. The first set is scheduled for release in the U.K. in June; the second will follow in September. There is no word yet on whether the sets will be released domestically.

Certainly the box-set has been been something of a pipe dream for a while and I'd imagine London should shoulder a fair whack of the blame for advance promoting it.

However the source of information as far as the new album goes is more credible.

From the 'other site', care of this month's Mixer Magazine:

New Order have curated a compilation album for DMC's Back To Mine DJ mix series.It is currently scheduled for release in August.The band are set to start work on a new album, the follow-up to last year's comeback effort, Get Ready.Bassist Peter Hook says New Order are anxious to start recording again following the album's success."We're enjoying ourselves so much, we thought we'd strike while the iron's hot," Hook tells this month's Mixer magazine.Hook claims the album will be "24 hours of Cajun house, with a bit of Liverpool, tap dancing and line dancing."

The site goes on to mention that the initial recording dates are confirmed for October.

I'm not holding my breath but it's promising to hear Hooky so positive.

Nope...it's a collection of songs which have influenced the band - it is their choice of songs - therefore there isn't necessarily going to be any NO on there. It isn't all dance music by any means. For instance Orbital had a Jethro Tull original track on theres

The New Order Back to Mine record will be a mix of the band's favourite songs to play while Barney necks the Pernods at Hooky's gaff after a heavy night... It's basically a collection of music to chill to, stuff that inspired them, stuff they rate. It won't be limited to dance music, will probably be eclectic and may or may not include Lionel Richie's "Hello".

Whenever I see 'chill out' or 'I'm relaxing on the sofa after a heavy night on the dancing unit' or perhaps 'hand me the spliff 'cause them banging 'choons are still swirling 'round my mind like a windmill in my mind and i don't want the night to end biscuit face' I immediately become frustrated with things and tend to lash out without full and proper research. As such, I have been left with excess egg yolk covering my chin. I have indeed not spotted the woodlice for the sake of a few twigs.

So okay I think I've got it now. Barney is selecting some neat classics he's put on at Hooky's house after a night out chasing mice. Again, I fear a selection not unlike 'Club Classics Volume 987 2002 from 'Tatfight' in Ibiza' (including exclusive re-mixes by Terry Anderton and Candy Floss Jones) and 'The Power Rat Stomp Sit Session' by Smoky Synth Tapper and the Retro-fits etc. etc.

If only big Lionel's "Hello there, was it you I was looking for to create me a classy looking potrait out of clay even though you can only see straight through one eye" was in the mix.

Rocko, your are a mighty generous soul ... I would never appreciate an empty bag of crisps unless you had first placed it next to an open fire and made a nice little miniature ornament. I'm not sure whether you'd be able to put together a few songs I've been longing to hear but are still in the loft zone nowhere near an easily accessible CD ... something like Run2, Paradise Re-mix, Ceremony Live (a good version), Sub-Culture Record Mirror version, you know, that type of thing. My memory is failing me, my mind is going. If only I could remember the songs and mixes I've really wanted I could formulate a decent list. One that would take you about 3 weeks to compile in between meals. Isn't there any re-mixes of SOTN? ... I've never found a decent re-mix of Blue Monday in my time, they've always been crapper compared with the mighty original but my mate always claimed he heard a swell one back in the eighties.

A pal of mine who lives in the smoke who has access to Arthur's radio show informs me this mix is indeed very slick and very credible. I am quite excited at hearing this new version especially because Arthur was involved in the original production, and also, his mane of exceedingly long hair and freshly baked cakes.

I'd just like to point out Danny Tenaglia is also a bona fied recording artiste as well as being accomplished in the field of operating turntables. His back catalogue includes the excellent 'Turn Me On' 'Be Yourself' 'Music is The Answer' and 'B' under the guise of Datar.

Don't listen to Hank ... it's a trick.
