An excerpt of The Klaxans was played on University Challenge tonight (BBC2, UK TV, 8pm), about 2 hours ago. It was influenced by a novelist (whose name I can't remember).
Anyway, three further artists were played and a quartet of Cardiff University students correctly guessed Joy Division. Unfortunately, they couldn't guess Gary Numan when Down In The Park was aired.
It's not the first time
A question was asked about Ian Curtis and Control once
and
They played a snippet of music a while back and asked for the artist and year of the track
The snippet was "Blue Monday"
The hapless student replied "Joy Division, 1981"

To be fair, if he's on University Challenge, he almost certainly wasn't even born till well after it was released.

That's because it was performed by Tubeway Army to be strictly accurate.
The question was on songs influenced by J.G Ballard, Paxo got the answer wrong!
The Replicas album (from which Down In The Park was included of course) was influenced by Philip K Dick
