He was in Joy Division, New Order and Electronic. And now Bernard Sumner’s answering your questions as he becomes the subject of a forthcoming An Audience With...

So, what have you always wanted to ask him..?

Who’d win in a guitar duel - him or Johnny Marr?

Does he miss the Hacienda?

What would his Desert Island Joy Division disc be?

Questions, please, to uncutaudiencewith@ipcmedia.com by Tuesday, September 1

Why is it people come up with the most assinine questions for these things? Why not something interesting... instead it'll be a shitload of stupid crap like: Boxers or briefs?

This is what I asked

My question is what are the odds of New Order getting back together ,when will we get to hear the leftovers songs from the Waiting for the siren's call album and will you tour America is support for the Bad Lieutenant new album. thanks

I would say that the answer to the first one (which will obviously get asked in every interview) is never.

My questions that I sent through the email was...

  1. What was the most difficult part or aspect of recording the Japanese version of Krafty?

  2. What is your most favourite Pet Shop Boys song?

Great questions Sulanki. That's exactly what Bernard will want to talk about while he's promoting Bad Lieutenant - New Order!

As much as I am dying to ask him how he got his girth, can all of us flood him with questions on when a physical "Recycle" boxset will be released?

We could ask all the normal questions that come on here:

What is the meanng of 1963's lyrics?

Will you ever tour the US?

Will Joy Division ever reform? If not, why?

Why are so many of your fans gayers?

Is the story on the internet about you man-loving Marr biographical?

If Hooky wore a blonde wig and got double-D implants, would you reconsider reforming if he promised you could touch them once daily?

Barney, is toothpaste a liquid or a solid?

Given the dance scene's perennial interest in Italo disco and your amazing abilities as a producer, why not produce a slice of catchy, accessible electronic pop, as opposed to that syrupy "hey what you doing, hey now" shite that doesn't appeal to anyone?

Why did you become such a twat?!

Seriously: What are your feelings about David Nolans 2007-book about you?

When I read the last chapter, it was a revelation ... almost everything about Bernard falls into place if you read this ... it was sometimes very funny, open-hearted and easy to read as well ...

I emailed:

  1. When did you first meet Phil Cunningham and what made you decide to involve him in Electronic then New Order and now Bad Lieutenant? Over the past decade what do you feel Phil has brought to the creative process writing alongside you?

  2. Is Twisted Tenderness the last music we will hear from Electronic or do you have plans to work with Johnny Marr again at some point?

  3. From your career thus far, is there a single track you are most proud of from any of the various bands you’ve been in?

Good questions, IMO. As for the first question, I'm aware that Johnny Marr produced Marion's second album (I only own their first album, though). I don't know much other specifics, though.

Where do your dance moves come from?

I would ask him the same question as one of the previous posters.

"What song are you most proud of writing?"

Another thing I am wondering is if this record is going to be like Republic, as both records were made at a time the band was going through turmoil. Are there going to be any lyrical jabs at Hooky?

Maybe touring in Paris, then in Spain. Soon enough he'll realize he nearly gave it all away.
