Chris, sorry to say but you simply sound so biased you're not even close to relaying something meaningful. What's the point? Fair dos, you're not a fan of Bernard and you'll gladly swallow anything Hooky posts without question but some of the rest of us may have a slightly more objective stance.

I've struggled to find anything Bernard has said about trying to use the Internet more as being so offensive to people. Certainly not to provoke the reaction it's had. Who honestly gives a fuck about BL using the NO Facebook list to promote a new single and album by the singer of New Order. Seriously? Who gives a fuck enough to get their knickers that much of a twist?

At the end of the day Bernard's produced an single, album and tour of which I'm booked in to see two dates. Whereas we've only got a couple of half baked demos that most people wouldn't listen to twice let alone thrice and phantom festival promises from Hooky. Don't get me wrong, I'm really hoping Hooky pulls it out of the bag and delivers a cracking album plus a string of UK dates but from what we've had to go on so far we can only draw what we can. We've had a track listing from Freebass but barring an actual release date it's business as usual there innit?

Incidentally, at least you've got the opportunity to see BL; I don't see any FB dates anywhere for fans to buy tickets for. Which most of us - myself included - would gladly dip our hands in our pockets to see.

Still, use a bit of reason and common sense here Chris. Out of the number of fans who don't give a shit and "may" be interested in what Bernard's up to versus the number of complainants I'll bet the number was so low it wouldn't count for anything in the real world. Using that plus accusing Bernard of being a smug bastard for trying to interact with fans via the net just sounds so bitter it's unreal.

It just grates that Barney and his management have rarely bothered in the past, but Hooky and Fletch always answer emails, etc.

Why this sudden interest in fans when they've been largely ignored in the past? Maybe because even here, there seems to be a fair old split between those who love B/L and those who think they're at best, bland? Maybe because there's a product to sell? Fair enough, I'm all for people advertising their product, but it's a bit rich to suddenly claim to have "discovered" digital communication after ignoring people for so long.

Nah Burt, more or less given up on all that. Might be interviewing Hooky about the Hacienda book though, not really bothered about Bernard.

And Tunbridge Wells? Oooh, not for me. Rather have somewhere near the coast.

...could it be that the person who liked talking to the press etc was IN THE SAME BAND at the time, and now he isn't so up steps Bernard.

As for the artwork, you'd all complain regardless of what it looks like, there is literally nothing any member of New Order can now do right as far as the fans seem to be concerned.

Well, the Internet didn't really exist for most of New Order's career. So even in the Get Ready-era onwards, when the Internet existed for bands to directly communticate to the public---New Order as a band, I think didn't really utilise it. (For whatever reason; maybe they didn't want to change their image or whatever.) Hooky has, but that's Hooky. Not the entire band as a whole. Now that New Order is defunct, and he's in something new (no pun intended), maybe that's why he posted the blog on myspace. Or maybe it's taken him that long in his career to 'break out of his shell', so to speak, and do so. Or maybe that he's got older and something within him changed. That being said, all the other blogs on their myspace seem to be written by Jake and/or Phil.

In fact, surely his continued silence means he's the exact opposite of 'self-obsessed' or have I missed summat very obvious here?

I prefered the old days when they said fuck all and were all enigmatic. That has always been part of the attraction of New Order. I think bands Twittering, blogging and posting stuff on their myspace pages ruins things somewhat. There needs to be mystery. They need to be detached. Otherwise they end up like the feckin Alarm, hosting annual 'fan club' gatherings in the singer's back garden and consulting their ever decreasing fanbase over what cover art to choose, what to play at gigs etc. Load of bollocks that is. It's not a fucking democracy! That Reverend & The Makers lot are another, more contemporary, example of this. Busking with the fans after gigs, giving his mobile phone number out etc etc. And what do both these bands have in common? Yes, they're both fucking rotten!

I highly doubt a US tour (or any in the Americas) will surface. NO barely came here when they had the opportunity when they were popular, now as a side project that the masses won't give two tosses about? Even if they wanted to, doubt the record companies would be willing to support it....

I'm probably giving FAR too much info here,but all i can say is that hooky is very busy with his day job,make of that what you will.

Got to admit tho,i was quite looking forward to the battle of the bands,but alas twas not to be or twas it?

What? I just saw it last week- between the killer dwarf, Donald Sutherland's nudity and Julie Christie's gorgeous clothes, I didn't catch the internet reference- that movie had everything, it seems. This is the same film?? Apologies for off topic post...

The same film, in conversation about some historic nonsence, sutherland mentions something being posted on the internet, back then it was more like a file sharing network, not with browsers as we know it today.

Well, that's what the latest press release (1st September - just Google, that's what I did!) says... :)
