Nevertheless, at present, nor release date or name does not appear to be on the agenda.

Looks like Jacques le Conte aka Stuart Price is remixing the remaining WFTSC tracks, but I dunno?

Barney's a fucking techno genius - and Stuart Price knows this too, he's on record as saying that the Peel Session version of 586 is one his favorite tracks.

His tracks on WFTSC and his remixes for Depeche Mode recently didn't exactly set my world on fire. Too polished - like everything these days.

Whether it's new stuff or the stuff from the WFTSC sessions...it sounds good to me.

Well, I read that quote to be that Jetstream (which Jacques Lu Cont also assisted with) was part of the last New Order album, not the "new" electronic stuff.

Maybe it is a new act - The Unknown, as the art contest referenced it and we all have been assuming was a misprint?

In any case, you wouldn't want to sap the enthusiasm for one band's album by letting it known you have another coming right after, right?

Since the translation is so confusing, is it safe to assume a full album (10 new songs?) or just a single/ remix ep for the dancefloor, similar to "Miracle Cure"? I would think the later more likely, but hey now, Barney may have had a rush of energy following the breakup.

Funny how Hooky mentioned at breakup that Barney wasn't interested in music... then right after the breakup all of this? Sounds like Barney is trying his damnedest to prove Hooky wrong... if only he could have done this before Hooky decided to part ways...

From this text (and my French is a little spotty) it's clear Bernard has a new album ready with JLC. The Jestsream ref seems to be about when they first worked together i.e. the Jetstream remix.

WiM aside, from memory, he gave himself a clear run when Electronic was launched. I don't get the impression that BL is a full blown commercial project in the way that Electronic was.

Is Barney going for something more intimate? I'm sure he could had a last hurrah with Johnny Marr, and had decent commercial success, but he appears to have chosen not to.

Or is he just filling in time until the inevitable NO reunion?

Having thought about it, Barney wouldn't be in a position to release the left overs without the consent of both Steve and Hooky, and I'm pretty sure given the relationship at the moment that that wouldn't be granted, so I think it may be new material, and just a reference to them having worked together before.

I'm sure I read an interview with Karl Bartos, where he said that Barney wasn't interested in music at the moment, so that just proves that Barney likes to play his cards close to his chest, he doesn't even let on to people he knows well, never mind the likes of us!

I think it could be interesting, though I'm not exactly a fan of jetstream the JLC remix was pretty good. It seemed a bit odd to me that Barney was going all guitar-ish with BL when it was always him pushing for the electronic side of things, so this could be a good balance.

Blue Monday, Everything's Gone Green, Temptation, Looking from a Hilltop etc are all examples of this man's skills in crafting perfect electronic dance music.

He's up there with Moroder and Kraftwerk in my book.

I just hope it hasn't got that over polished Lady Ga Ga, heavily autotuned sound.

Even if Barney did want to reunite Electronic, I don't know if Johnny would be free to do so. (Johnny Marr is involved in quite a lot of stuff these days...The Cribs etc...)

• Have Jake and Phil played a larger part than we thought in the BL song writing process (to give Bernard the capacity to write another album)?
• If Bernard writes on his own, how does he decide which project to allocate a song to?...like, do the best ones go to whichever pays him the higher royalty?!

I agree that Blue Monday, Everything's Gone Green, Temptation, Looking from a Hilltop, 586 are great... but Barney hasn't really shown that much interest in returning to that style far as fans can tell. I would think it will be more of a basic Sumner= songwriter, Stuart Price= producer in the pop sense... that Stuart Price would create the music, Sumner be the frontman. From what it sounds like, that is how Barney wants it nowadays.

Barney could go retro thou, it would be good for him.

I think so too, but I guess I'm just living in the past - Sumner made all that music when he was hanging out in clubs getting twatted.

I'd just like to him produce one last classic piece of electronic dance to show the likes of I-F, Legowelt et al, how it's done

Actually, the article doesn't tell if it's new material or the unreleased WFTSC tracks. Any conclusion would only be pure speculation now. Jetstream is only mentioned as an example of past collaboration between NO and Stuart Price.

Bernard wrote the majority of the music for the WFTSC album. A good chunk of what ended up on the finished record came from the demo's he did in his home studio. There is an interview floating around where he and Steve talk about that. Most of the actual song JET musically was written by Barney, it has the landmarks of a Sumner pop tune all over it.

I was always confused about who did the writing on Siren's. That video press kit you can watch on youtube suggests Hooky, Phil, and Steve jammed out the tracks and Bernard functioned mostly as lyricist (and producer). But all the singles from that album sound like Barney's hand is dominant---Krafty reminds me of Technique, Jetstream like a crap late Electronic track, Turn like a good late Electronic track, and Siren's Call like the better part of Republic.

The man's an enigma, because the songs he picked for the "songbook" TV performance are all surely definitive "group" tracks, unlike other tracks from his career like "Temptation", "Love Vigilantes", "Face Up", "Mr Disco", "Reality", and "Some Distant Memory" which previous press profiles suggested were more directly "Barney" songs.
