hooky's hacienda book

G picked one up yesterday and I had a thumb through when he wasn't looking. It looks very good - loads of lists and detail for the trainspotters and some cracking pictures in the middle for Jemma.
Can't wait to read it.
Saw it for sale in WHSmith barnsley today, not in HMV in town yet tho.

Are you implying I can't read?
Geteting great reviews all over the press this weekend. Sunday Times and Observer blowing smoke up its arse and music monthly's MOJO and Uncut both giving it high praise.
Great snippet in one of the reviews about Hooky in rehab....this lad comes up to him and asks Hooky if he remembers him - as he used to sell Es to Hooky in the Hacienda. Hooky can't recall the kid at all. Then it turns out the kid is Hooky's rehab councillor ![]()
I've read the first three chapters today (in between rifling through Colin's personal trinkets) and it's very enjoyable indeed. Very well written. Thankfully we don't get YET ANOTHER blow by blow account of the genesis of Factory/Joy Division/New Order. That's all put to bed in the first chapter. David Nolan's 'Wilson' book suffered by dedicating so much of it to this well worn story.

Well, editors gotta make a living somehow in these tough economic times...

Probably never except as an "import". I'm sure it can be had thou. Not hard to get books from overseas from Amazon or HMV either.
A sad book really, no-one comes out of it well. Everyone appears to be on the take Rob G, AHW etc etc while Hooky and co are too off their heads to care.
