Thieves Live Us

  1. best bit
  2. worst bit
  3. why you love/hate it
  4. % ranking
  5. which member of new order would you most like to have dinner with? and why? and what would you two eat?

Lonesome tonight then Thieves Like Us? :skeptic:

  1. The intro.
  2. Some of the lyrics are trite.
  3. Love it on the whole.
  4. 80%
  5. Hooky, no question. The only one who comes across as another 'fan', IMO, so I guess we'd have more in common to talk about? Food? Lots of meat, one should imagine. Lots of meat with pickles. Somewhere German perhaps? And with lots of beer. Ice cold German lagers.

  1. Best Bit: Hooky's bass
  2. Worst Bit: Bernard's voice
  3. Not really my favorite track, it's ok, but I don't think the singing part is good on that song.
  4. 75%
  5. Hum, well, Stephen seems to be the one to talk to, so over a dinner, I think he'll be the only one to behave long enough ;)

Wow this is the first one of these i've done, starting to feel like a member of the family now!

Here goes:

1 - Barneys slightly out of tune vocals 2 - Barneys slightly out of tune vocals 3 - it was a grower for me and they're always the best 4 - 80% 5 - Barney. he's made most money with the side projects etc, so he could pick up the bill. We'd go down to a Bernie Inn for steak'n'chips but i don't think they'd do Mellonballs there though.

As it says in my profile this is my favourite song by the ORDER. Love the intro and it is even better on the instrumental... COME IN....... Nothing bad that i can say cos BARNEY'S voice was crap during the early 80's which made him sound even BETTER if you get my drift!:D Don't know what it is about this song but just a CLASSIC like toast with the edges cut off and full of butter! 100%. I would take STEPHEN for a HAPPY MEAL and then 10 pints in BLOB SHOP.This would make him talk more at gigs. Then i would fight him for the TOY.:D

I love the instrumental as well, i have heard that "Come In" was said as a piss take but left in because it sounded so cool!! ala.. the laughing on Every Little Counts :)

1- Best bit is the intro. 2- Worst Bit. Lirycs. I guess that´s why many say that the instrumental is better. 3- I love the NOOL's Stolen Mix. Since Rocketman introduced me to it it I must have heard it a hundred times. 4-95% 5- Hooky seems to be more approachable but I guess I would take Barney for freshly captured seafood: oysters mainly with a nice cold fruity "Albariño" white wine. I would take the opportunity to apply for Gill´s job in case goes begging.

  1. the intro
  2. it's very repetitive, needed more variation for a 5 minute plus song
  3. i love it, it usually comes after perfect kiss on a cassette of mine. has a bit of a epic feel to it cuz it's so long and beautiful.
  4. 88%
  5. barney cuz i like his wit. as for the eating, a simple sandwich.

  1. The way the intro builds up from just Drums through to Hookys trademark "bass as lead" about 2 mins into it.
  2. Love this song so no real worst bit unless you can count the TOTPs live performance (very gothic if I remember rightly, not their best)
  3. It's classic New Order, synths, Hookys bass, steady build up adding layers of sound and Barneys slightly out of tune vocals.
  4. 95%
  5. Barney cause he's seems to have a dry wit and I think he'd be funny. We'd eat indian cause it's good.

Just for the recordings.

'Tea Leaves Like Us' on TOTP's - the first time a band has appeared and their song has gown 'down' in the charts as a result.

1 - I love the intro - swoonsome indeed (and the instrumental take is even better cos - like Mickey and I-D point out - the "come in!" bit right at the beginning gives it so much humanity and warmth! Like you're being invited inside the studio to share the moment with the band!) 2 - Bernard's vocals again - they let it down somewhat... 3 - Love the way Hooky blatantly steals from a Hot Chocolate song 4 - 84% 5 - I never want to have dinner with any member of New Order, thank you very much.

...meanwhile.....

The only difference now being: the anvils the singles wear round their necks on their descent being just that little bit bigger and heavier.... ;)

1 The sleeve 2 lyrics 3 Love it really....Totp performance is great 4 80% 5 Toughy this one:nod: Food? never mind that - Drink is far more important! Barney is funny as fuck when he's had a few - so we'd get on great:lol: Hooky is just brilliant full stop, Stephen has a wicked sense of humour - and maybe I'd get a go in one of his tanks - Gillian giggles a lot, so my jokes would go down very well:lol: Dunno bugger all about Phil! Cannae decide on this one

Crystal too!

When is the last New Order record that didn't fall in the charts after the first week anyway?
