Can anyone out there tell me the correct lyrics to the last verse of Sunrise?

All web pages including this one and worldinmotion.net quote it as:

"Whatever I have done for you I did because you complained??????"

I reckon this is nonsense and it is actually:

"Whatever I have done for you I did it in sympathy."

I've no idea what the preceding line is either. The web pages go on about ice freezing and all that. Can anyone enlighten me?

Apologies to those officianados who reckon that all fans should know every word but it's been a long time since 1985 and I still cant decipher them.

Your right the lyrics are inaccurate (but cant make em all out myself) i agree 'sympathy' is right though, i will have a listen now.

Sometimes it's better to not know the lyrics to NewOrder songs. Barney is no great lyricist and many times his words make absolutely no sense and several times they are embarrasingly childish and rhymes for the sake of rhyming. It's almost better to create your own words for hard to decifer phrases....keeps you from thiking Barney's an idiot.....til you hear/see a live show and he has to prove it in front of thousands by whooping and dancing. Decifering his lyrics will lead you down a disappointing road mr. easylover.

OK it's been over a month since I posted this query and still noone can satisfy me.

I'm totally convinced that the last line is

"Whatever I have done for you I did it in sympathy"

The lines before this I still can't decipher.

I hear what you say about deciphering lyrics but this one is just bugging me. What's the point in listening to a track if you can't hear what they're singing (I sound like my old dear here).

I'm sorry to resurrect this dull stream but you fans out there should really be able to answer it.
