The reason is that people don't know about this album yet, even though it is a good album, give it time and once people know about them and from further singles being released it will get known, another thing is the kids buy all of this crappy bubble gum produced music so it puts it even further down the chart. Let's hope for the best.

We knew this from the start. They have self released it. They have sold it through Townsend Records as if they were a local band. They couldn't have expected more. I think they could have had a good deal with an indie label, let's hope Hooky learns the lesson.

What sales count for the charts these days anyway? The direct sales through Townsend probably don't count. Isn't it all HMV/supermarket sales?

Yeah yeah I know, available here, available there, but if they had been backed by a proper label things would have been different, starting with reviews, promotion etc. I mean, Prefab Sprout have released a (wonderful!) demo Paddy McAloon recorded in his kitchen with outdated tools in 1992 and it got in the Top 40, because it was released by fookin Sony, not Triple Tripe or something, you know what I mean? ;)

It's pretty cheap in the US too, insound has the vinyl for only $15.99. Townsend doesn't even offer the vinyl by itself, you can only get it as a CD/LP/Download bundle for $29.99. Does anyone know if the $15.99 LP comes in the same double panel jacketed package as the LP in the $29.99 bundle? Anyway, I doubt the album will have a big impact on the US charts, these sort of releases never do. A few more US dates might help though. :)
Think of the youth market, how many of them are going to identify with the years dropped in Summer Days on Holiday? 2 of them will be before some were born, surely! 
I could see a few of these songs doing well on AOR/MOR stations here, might grab the 30+ age bracket. But, it'd require some marketing hustling. I don't think bands should be bothered with charts these days, make the money in shows and sales and let that speak for any success.
New Order have been "namedropped" as an influence on a lot of today's young bands (ie. the Killers, Interpol, Bloc Party etc.); so the young kids might check them out for that reason alone. That is, if they can follow that Bad Lieutenant is formed from the broken up New Order.

Now the problem is how many copies has the album sold? I've read 5,000 are enough to enter the Top 40 nowadays... If they have sold, like, 3,000 copies to be positive, they're not even covering half the recording costs. Hokky said he spent £ 40,000 to record the Freebass album, I really hope he and Barney still have some money from the New Order copyright...
