He was.

I saw him at Jake's side of the stage as they played LWTUA, singing along.

Dead weird seeing him last night as the last time I saw him mingling in the crowd was at Monaco's final(ish) gig at the Scala almost 10 years ago. A decade on, completely different New Order side project and there he is again!

Bit gutted I missed the photo opportunity some Vikings got.

I did have a very small argument with Arthur Baker once. I walked into him at the bar (his bar) and spilled a little bit of his drink. He was annoyed, but was actually really nice about it. As I said to Joe Strummer, who I was standing with at the bar, he took it very well.

But as Prince Charles said to me once, it doesn't pay to name drop.

let's face it, BL's harshest critics will be some of the folk on here: the new order connoisseurs who are so emotionally attached to the past they can't even begin to take BL seriously.

i tried to put this to the test last night and play some New Order but my lodger told me i wasn't allowed to play New Order because they were miserable. So i didn't play them. Interestingly, that's not the first person recently who's told me what music i'm not allowed to listen to.

I think that comparing the above should solve the question, certainly concerning what the bands sound like live - ignoring the quality of recording, but paying attention to the music and the way it's presented on stage.

Especially the first clip around the two minute mark.

fair enough - i agree comparisons are of limited worth.

my original post was really motivated by how good i thought BL were last night - and i was basing that more on the BL songs more than the NO covers...

Crystal, Temptation and BLT are 3 stone wall classics that I wouldnt really expect to easily bettered.

WFTSC, on the other hand, is (IMO) worse than Home, Summer Days, Sink or Swim, Dynamo, Runaway, Running Out of Luck, How Long, Split The Atom, Twist Of Fate.

Since the Manc gig listened to NCAT lots and I have to apologise as I now agree with you, certainly Twist of fate, This is Home, Poisonous intent are better than WFTSC, this album is certainly growing on me. The best side project since the 1st Electronic album

New Order have been around over 25 years and have put out tons of material including the best selling 12" single of all time and a string of other hits and cult classics, BL have put out one album, been on the public radar for under 12 months and have played hardly any gigs.

I don't think its right to compare BL to New Order but I am loving the album, Im quite shocked at how some people on here seem to dislike it, there are some real gems on the album
