I really really like this one. Epic. Poignant yet unbeatably optimistic.It should be the next single. It's better than Runwild off Get Ready and everything!

I'm holding my lighter aloft as we speak.
The intro to the song makes me imagine it as being used as a clip of music on another wretched episode of Location Location or something. The programme has charted the struggle of the young couple as they search for their dream home and hit many ups and downs along the way. Almost not getting their dream home as deal after deal falls through before Kirsty fucking Alsopp clinches it for them and the triumphant music heralds the end of the programme and the happy young couple pop open the Champagne in their new pad. No? Probably just me then.

almost feel guilty for liking this one as it maybe sounds like coldplay or some boring ass british band with a one word name
Dunno about Runaway but Running Out Of Luck is the best New Order song for some time that never had a Hooky bassline; the middle eight kind of attempts one on an electric but falls a bit short. That and Poisonous Intent are high points on an otherwise much maligned record.
Those two with Hooky twanging away would have bested most of the lesser tracks on Get Ready and WFTSC. Poisonous Intent in particular; Steve even managed to employ that classic "clang" type New Order snare sound.

I like all of NCAT in general, but I agree with you about Running Out of Luck and Poisonous Intent. Those are two of my favorite songs on the record (Sink Or Swim, This is Home, Summer Days, and Walk on Silver Water being the others).
ROOL has great melodies (especially with the big chord change halfway theu the song, and then the gorgeous synth ending). I like how Steve's programming makes a slower song so groovy.
Poisonous Intent is my favorite song on the record. It sounds to me like classic New Order. Great melodies, great synths, super dancey, lots of great, dancey hard hitting drumming an programming from Steve (including that snare). I just think its a great song, and I am assuming it's mainly Barney and Steve's work. It sounds like a great New Order tune.
I love Runaway as well. I considered it the hidden jewel of NCAT. My two favorite songs are Runaway & Running Out of Luck. Both are gorgeous, lush songs. I really don't want to say one is better than the other. Runaway is slower & more lush sounding. Running Out of Luck is more uptempo & upbeat. It's like asking does ice cream taste better if you eat it slow or fast.
One thing both songs have in common is Barney's voice. He sounds better than he has in years and the lyrics are great as well.
When I listen to Running Out of Luck and he mentions the snow at the end of the song, it reminds me of those JD pictures where they're walking around in the snow and they look so young & happy.

On that iTunes Originals release Barney said he went back and listened to "Run Wild" and thought "fuck, that should've been a single!". Here's hoping he doesn't make the same mistake again with Runaway.

Running out of luck is ace as an acoustic, reminds me of the 93 days of the cure, without the pretentiousness.

I prefer Run Wild with the beautiful violins. Runaway has that 'shalala'-thing I don't like very much.
