Its a simple question really. Which versions of NO's tunes do you tend to prefer? The studio versions or the live versions?
For me its definitely the live versions. Their studio releases are brilliant, but when played live, their songs take on a different quality and meaning (which is great) or sound like total crap (which is just as great).

Think some songs like TEMPTATION and THE PERFECT KISS come alive MORE than the studio versions.Guess it's just the reaction these get when played live that helps.:D
I like the studio versions of live songs! Like with Rock the Shack - the Lamacq version exactly mirrors what they do live, and it's leagues ahead of the Get Ready track. Or the likes of Confusion and Temptation 87 - which were basically structured on how they performed the tracks live, and not the original 12"s.

gotta agree with that one (is that CHORLEY FM comin in yer ear?), Temptation just gets better and better when played live - a real hair's standing up on the back of your neck moment.
Songs like Temptation, Love will terrace apart, Ceremony and Your Silent Face get better and better as they are played live, and outclass their studio versions. But for the rest, in general, I prefer the studio versions (BLT, True Faith, Regret, Crystal, 60mph, Atmosphere... are far from perfect when played live). The live studio versions (BBC recordings) are often real gems.
I tend to agree that certain songs do work better than others when played live, although in general I think the live no experience adds a whole other dimension to their recorded work - there's something special in the air when they're digging in on stage - certainly my experiences of seeing no with people who've not seen them before indicates there's some truth in this... anyone else?
Certain songs just sound better live, like the aforementioned Temptin', but others sound better studio-wise, like BM. It's a crap shoot either way...
depends. whenever i download NO music, i look for live versions. i look forward to barney's imporvised lyrics, or a varietion in the song that i wouldn't hear on the studio version. like for example, LWTUA done today live sounds different than the original version. when i heard the live version on the jools holland show, it sounded fuller and of coarse, a different singer too. but it's nice to have the studio version to compare to the live version to actually notice the differences.:D
Is there really enough Live Order out there to make such a decision? The BBC concert disc is poorly recorded/produced. The video of The Perfect Kiss is live and is outstanding. the Ukranian concert is too early but the proto-version of Temptation is interesting. Likewise True Faith from the BBC concert (first time live they claim) as well.
