I know this topic has been discussed many times before, but I wanted to remind the NOOL's of days gone by.

A friend of mine had a great article from a US music mag called the Alternative Press (A.P.) from '88. This specific issue featured a great interview with our heroes before they were about to launch the disaster that would be the Technique US tour.

One thing that always stuck with me from that article was how the band hated playing the same songs night after night, simply because it bored them to tears. In fact, if I remember correctly, the interview took place before one of their few shows in '88 while the band were trying to decide what songs to play that night - only 45 minutes or so before they took the stage!

Its ironic that their equipment was stolen before that fateful US tour and they were forced to play the same tunes almost every gig. In fact, I don't think they've ever recovered - see the setlists from the Republic and GetReady gigs.

With all of the gems that NO have given us over the years, its a shame that we'll likely never hear TPK, AOC, Leave Me Alone, Sunrise, Lonesome Tonight, anything from Technique etc (I could go on) live again.

Let's hope the next time out, the band (tours the US!!! and) decide to mix things up a little.

Peter said in a net chat that he likes playing the same songs, because he makes less mistakes and is happier with his performance.

It is true thy did mostly play the same songs, but thy did change things up a little. We did get Turn my way, Slow Jam, Rock the shack, Love Vigilantes, Didital, She's lost control, Brutal and I think they played Ruined in a day at the beginning of the tour. I know it could have been more. but it was a lot better then the Republic tour. I think the only extra song we ever got was Special. Over all I'm happy with the Get ready tour. I just hope they add Round & round or anything from techneque in their next tour. And maybe if Gillian joins them, they coulds play someone like you (who am I kidding, they don't pay her enough to sing live)

This one's gonna run and run, isn't it?

Can't say the choice of songs really bothers me - it's just the order of them that's annoying. Check out every bloody gig from 1989. Basically played the classics, and Technique, but every setlists's different.

As Jarvo says, I don't really mind most of the songs they currently do, but just wish they would mix it up a bit ! I mean, it's not as if they can be called New Order any more, is it ? More like "Same bleedn' order every night ;)"

i'd prefer it if they started to do different versions of the songs they currently do, they were great at Reading 98 but nothings changed since really. Really can't understand why we don't get anything from Technique.
