New Order was not big enough to be asked? What a travesty. The year after Blue Monday? Must have been the hair. No Robert Smith? Hell, they got Weller to embarrass himself.
Do They Know It's Xmas?

"Do they know it's Christmas?" considering the vast majority aren't christian, I think they wouldn't care.
"There won't be snow in Africa this Christmas time" Have a look on the top of Mount Kilimanjaro.
"And tonight thank God it's them instead of you" if there were a God it would be Bono instead of them or us

Screw Jesus. They would take the toys and candy thou.

Snowfall conditions in tropical Africa would kill off thousands of species of tropical plants and warm water fish. Ice on Lake Tanganyika, crocodiles floating on icebergs? Then how would Bono and Sting feel.

That line is hella stupid, but does sum up Christianity well.

This song is one of the top Christmas winners of all time- such a travesty... I love it!
Sting just got listed as person of the Week on ABC News for using pictures of kids in refugee camps as the backdrop for his live shows and giving them indestructible soccer (football) balls. Just think what a shot of a starving barefoot kid trying to kick a ball on an ice floe would have done for him!
I'm sure I read somewhere that they weren't asked, which is hardly surprising, and would have said no anyway. I seem to remember it being AHW who was against it.
Ethiopia has a Christian majority.
If you look at the line-up,they're mostly mainstream acts. No one "alternative" is there. No Robert Smith, no Ian McCullogh and no Morrisey either.(Wait, was he even famous yet? IDK) So,it's not just New Order that were slighted.
