Just when you think there's nothing left to say after the last 5 years media blitz and finished reading Hooky's book last month.....of course! 30 years since Closer.
It seems to be a big article interviewing everybody still living about the making of Closer down in that there London. Sod buying a sunday paper, this is my reading for today. Not the usual photos in it either, I think some of them might be new.
Its a good read with new quotes and yes some new piccies,,distance always gives a different perspective , would be interesting to hear deborah after all these years and anniks coming out.

Yes, just finished reading it. Fascinating stuff, more anecdotes I've not heard before and another couple of verbal swipes from Hooky at Bernard (will you 2 just stop it and go out for a beer & kebab!)
I never realised before that about 10 years ago I actually worked in an office for a few months across the road from the flats they stayed at to record Closer. Wonder if they used to drink their allocated one pint a day in the Globe up the road where I used to get drunk after work.
Nice to see the photo of the band sitting amongst loads of chairs in Paris now enlarged and looking more iconic than ever. It's a brilliant shot. But there's a new (to me) photo of Steve in the studio which I had to do a double-take on. He's sat on a sofa with 2 blokes I don't recognise sat behind glass behind him. In the reflection of the glass is a standing figure with his hands in his pockets. But if you look at it another way, to my eyes, it looks like the Grim Reaper holding his scythe! As if this band wasn't weighed down with enough doom-laden imagery already - especially with the subsequent album cover - sorry for spotting something else!
Had a look at it in Asda earlier but didn't buy as i was on the way to the pub.Will buy it though. The pic of Steve on a sofa is the only i haven't seen before (i think)

Some interesting stuff in the article. On the flippant side Barney recalls he had ham sandwiches (with horseradish sauce) for his lunch at the studio.
More interestingly Lindsey Reade throws in another conspiracy theory regarding the "Closer" artwork. Lindsey observes that Wilson, Hannett and Gretton have all passed away and makes a connection to the three figures looking on at the corpse (of Curtis presumably) on the front sleeve.
