It's out there - somewhere...

...so it is Pablo!

Anyway I won't say where it is available - for fear of getting flamed (as when I started 'that' Joy Division thread). In any case judging by the comments of the people on here last time - I doubt anybody is interested in hearing the original JD version anyway!

wow, that was awful. not even worth fighting with Rapidshare.

Now I am waiting for the complete Joy Division's In a Lonely Place

Darkman's gone on there ranting - so I suppose it's OK to reveal it's existence to the world, but.....

I thought Darkman said it was really different. Sounds like Warsaw naive punkish Stooge-ish. Kind of half baked, unfocused, probably why Hooky said it needed to be finished.

I never doubted it's existance, just don't think darkloser has a copy!

I see he's made a threatening comment on the above mentioned blog:clap:

Good on you man, who you fighting for again?:confused2:

Me either. I sat in the pub on the other side of the street and drunk a few pints. What's your problem?

The word I believe you are looking for is 'shit'. Perhaps there's a reason why these tracks haven't appeared in public until the pension fund needed topping up? forwards to the past...

Thanks again to Old Blue for another great link. The comments are great! 'Darktwat'! Priceless...

what does darkman mean when he says:

I think we can all agree that the version played at FAC251 is much better than this recording :ignore:

It's a shame that things like this get out on the net in this way but that is nature of music these days, nothing can be kept away from the internet now.

What is the real story about how this song was made public? Someone had to have it first or find it, then pass along to someone else. Can this lineage be traced?

Presumably the chorus was,at that time, what 1980,influenced by the MARTINI adverts??
"It's the right place,it's right time,THAT's MARTINI!" :beer2:"

well it all started one rainy night in Stockport...

In fact, this track has been in fairly wide circulation for some time, among people with too much class to show off about it. Whoever runs this blog is probably just revealing it now because Hooky played it. This was always going to happen, just a question of when.

Plenty of people standing around me at the gig recognised it straight away.

The quality of the song and the performance give it very limited commercial appeal. If 'the band', whatever that means now, had chosen to market this track, the cries of exploitation would have drowned out any gratitude. It wouldn't have got much radio play.

Hopefully 'the band' will box clever and do something with the Siren's out-takes before they fall into the wrong hands and go public.
