Are we EVER going to get to hear the WFTSC outtakes?

Yeah,it seems an obvious enough thing to do,after all there won't be any new material recorded by the band to add to those tracks to so why not put them out in this way.

I still hope that M.r. A.L. or 50 can get a hand on the pre-master of WFTSC. Really curious what's on there. For example, I really love to hear an instrumental version of WFTSC and/or Krafty.

Like others have said, have they morphed into any of the Bad Lt stuff? Remember Monaco using the Techno Track from the Ruined in a Day single for basis of Sweet Lips.

Remember hearing Sugar Cane was one of the best songs produced during the sessions.

From what I remember at the time, New Order were quoted in having 'a creative burst' around the time that WFTSC was recorded and laid down at least seven extra tracks, some with Girls Aloud producer Brian Higgins (I think that's his name). These were meant to be better than the tracks on the album according to Barney and Peter... They never got round to mixing them at the time and then they split anyway, so unless they subsequently have been mixed down, they'll remain in a raw-ish state - for now.

As much as I'd like to see these released, there's no point in London releasing them as they wouldn't sell that well. 'Republic' aside, London Records never got what they wanted financially from New Order and the more they interfered, the worse the situation became. They will turn up eventually I'm sure and we could all wonder what could of been...

Hope their contract with London and Warner is not "eternal" like Ronaldo's with Nike. I would love to see them releasing an album with an independent record label again. Remember that JD's year phrase: "Do what we want to do".

Every member of New Order will have to die first before this is going to happen.

Warners / AOL / WaltDisney / whateverthefucktheyrecallednow will be rubbing their hands in glee at the prospect of yet another greatest hits collection and shoddy compilation/reissue/remaster...then of course, they'll get the track titles wrong or the wrong mixes, or the wrong edits, etc etc..... oh yes...

Not an album's worth but we've got 7 songs left in various states of assembly. And they're pretty good. Doing an EP of them will be a great thing to do. It will happen one day, I'm sure it will. It'll keep the record company going on...

Knowing NO they could leave these in the vaults forever to tantalise and fascinate the fans! On a more concrete note (and I know I've said this before but...) this project seems pretty fraught to me. For a start, if the trax are incomplete, surely the band'll have to reconvene to finish 'em off - and there's precious little chance of that happening, certainly not for a handful of songs they rejected half a decade ago! I guess one member could do a kiss-of-life job (like Bernard on some of the 94/95 remixes) but nothing's been announced and they seem (by their standards) very active with other stuff: BL (new album), The Light (gigging), even the Other Two (new releases)... Plus, how'd London get 'em out? It's been 20 years since the days of Factory one-offs, I reckon London wouldn't settle for anything less than a full-on single-album-tour burst. They COULD go on a WFTSC remaster, but (a) they don't have much of a track record in that department and (b) it'd be odd to remaster a comparatively recent release. Obviously I'm as much in the dark as anyone else, but all in all it looks iffy to me.

yeah, if these are not completely tracked, then there is no way they are going to finish them. it is really rare for an artist to go back and get into the same state and feel like finishing something done years prior - you mature, you evolve, you listen back and you are not going to be excited, you would rather just write entirely new material. the music gets stale the longer it sits on the shelf.

i know there are some rare instances, when an artist will go back in time and retouch an old unreleased song, drop some vocals onto an old instrumental, or do a totally new remix, but for new order to go back to seven songs half-done 5 years ago, and really want to complete them seems pretty unlikely.

now, if the songs are all tracked, and lyrics written, i could see sumner going in and replacing his scratch with some final vocals, and a third party coming in to mix and release it at some point.

but if these songs are still in draft states, no lyrics, etc, then my money is on the band (if they ever do more music together) putting out a totally new lp.

Seem to recall Bernard wanted to do another album fairly soon and Hook wanted to tour instead, that's just before the problems erupted? Anyway back then I understood those were supposed to go on the second album but the remainder was never recorded. Might be mistaken.

Yes, somewhere along those lines, except I thought the Killers thing was a joke.

I recall Stephen saying one of these leftover tracks was his favourite from the sessions. Did he ever name which one?

No, they were mooted to be co-headlining with The Killers on a tour of either Europe or the US when the disagreements started.
