As a fan of David Bowie as well as New Order, I've been waiting since 1995 to hear the out-takes of "1. Outside", only a few Internet leaks so far...

Things..get around. Eventually :ignore:

Hooky has stated that they were going to be released, "...then we f**kin' fell out again..."

From what I've heard, they'll eventually see the light of day in an official capacity. :)

I think I missed something.

They exist? Surely they're some sort of treasure hidden within Steve's archives.

Actually, Hooky did play a track from the unreleased WFTSC sessions called Sisters & Brothers (or Brothers & Sisters?) at a DJ outing one night , but I never heard any details on it

Ah never mind...this'll whet your appetite!

Hooky is awesome as a bass player for me, fortunately Barney became NO's singer

You rock! Thanks for posting that, great to hear. Definitely Barney's lyrics- that sister and brother line is like one from tighten up

SERIOUSLY? If that was left off the album to make room for 'Jetstream', then someone clearly was pumped full of drugs. :nonono:

P.S. Who's the devastatingly handsome dude on rhythm bass? Monty and I, we know the burden of being both the bass player and the band sex symbol. It's the Ben Orr curse.

I think even the band think the unreleased tracks are the equal of the ones on WFTSC. They did initially intend the "extra" songs to form the basis of the next album, so none of them were chucked away on B-sides.

In selecting what did make the cut for WFTSC, it seems to me they consciously tried to cover a lot of bases - and some of them, not very well.

Well, do Warners own the bands music as is the case with most artists? Or do New Order own the songs and then agree some sort of deal with Warners about releasing them? If it's the former, then maybe we need to do a "Petition to No 10" type thing in the direction of Warners/London. If it's the latter, then we need to do a petition type thing to the band members, perhaps roping in a certain bass player's family member? (Is that very naughty?). Either way we need to SHOUT if we want this to happen anytime soon!! And while we're at it, can someone give Hooky/Mani a kick about releasing the Freebass album?

Maybe for 25 anniversary edition, if there will be any editions by that time.

Crumbs, only one post to this thread in the last week. Compare that to the pages of guff talked about the re-issues. That's stuff we basically already had. It seems NOOLers are more intersted in remasters of stuff they know, rather than hearing NO stuff they've never heard. It seems a shame. I don't see these unreleased tracks coming out as long as the fan base is this apathetic about hearing them.

Well, they could bring out an "expanded" version of WFTSC with the additional songs added...Couldn't they?

I suggested exactly that somewhere on the re-issues thread. No one was listening though...

It's not that people aren't listening.

The songs still require some final production work, and you have a band that isn't speaking to each other. They're all doing their own projects right now - they don't want to go back and revisit New Order. It's the exact same thing as you moaning that the fans on these boards are only interested in the remasters and don't want to hear anything new. Well, to the parties involved, those songs aren't anything new, either. They're 5-6 years old at this point.

They'll be released eventually, but it isn't going to be before the band has repaired their own interpersonal relations.
