Just seen the Emma/Jemily sisters on Facbook banging on about Perfect Kiss coming on random on their iPods ... and it reminded me ...

Heard this the other day and forgot how much the bassline reminded me of an early Hooky.

Not sure what this version below sounds like cos I've not got a soundcard at work but - trust me - my version sounds a bit like Hooky (and a bit like an early New Order all round really).

Model 500 - "Vessels in Distress"

Both NO and the Detroit Techno scene - which Model 500/Juan Atkins were huge in influenced each other, right? No surprise there's similarities. Very cool tune, hadn't heard it before.

Buffalo Stance by Neheh Cherry! It may be a guitar actually, but the chorusy/flangy riff thing reminds me of Hooky.

@3:11 in this video and also the last 45secs of the album version

"11th Dimension" by Julian Casablancas. The bassline at 0:45, 1:24 and 2:17 on this video sounds a lot like Hooky and the song has some elements that are almost a ripoff of "Bizarre Love Triangle".

It's pretty catchy though.

Hooky meets Robert Smith. These guys are geniuses.

Check the track 'Please don't leave me' from Pink (i know cheesy as fuck, but still). The bassline is a real hooky bassline (well at least it's what i think:rofl:)

Is that a later (Network)re-release, cos i aint got that shit on Metroplex, well not up to 90' anyway. 'Clear' - a top ten tune me finks.

It's on this album.

Amusingly, just googling the album I found this article which appears to have been in the Grauniad this very week!

The last only sounds like Hooky if you're saying it with a Mrs Merton accent.

I've been waiting for years for an excuse to share one of my favourites with you guys - a 90s band from my home town that clearly had a love for all things New Order, this track especially. As much Barney as Hooky, it sounds to me at least like it could have been a lost Technique B-side.

Hopefully this works, but around 2:20.

I like that, not just the music but the use of the Mandelbrot set, I always thought that would make a great New Order sleeve.

Some good tunes, good thread! Hooky bass really evident at 6:48 on this one...but turns out it's not the Meister, apparently.

I believe it's Trevor Horn trying his hand at Hooky's style. Damn, they should have just called him.
