New Order Manchester 98 and London 98 Shows

Hello all,

So, I really, really want to hear more of the New Order shows from 1998. I have the Reading 98 DVD and a bootleg of the complete show, and their performance was fantastic. As such, I am really interested in hearing more of these shows, especially the Manchester Apollo 98 show and the London 98 show, as the setlist was slightly different at both shows.

So, I spent all night attempting to download the Manchester 98 show from the SS3022 blog. However, the show is in FLAC form, in a RAR file....and even though I downloadeed the RAR and FLAC opening programs...I still cannot make it work! I've been trying for three hours!

So, does anyone have the Manchester 98 show and the London 98 show in simple, good old MP3 format, and might they be willing to help me get ahold of said emails?

Any help would be appreciated. I apologise for being such a luddite!!

Have you tried WinRAR (assuming Windows), and any of these programs for Flac?

If you know that it's a .flac, then you must have opened the .rar.

I'll zip the mp3s to .rar and put them up somewhere.

In the temporary absence of Al Jarvis, I'd just like to point out that all three of these gigs were fucking wank and you'd be better off listening to a badly recorded tape of your tap dripping.

(Actually, Reading was fucking ace.....but don't tell anyone I said so.)

yea manchester was a bit flat,especially when compared to the triumph of reading,, remember gillians attempt to shake it down when egged on by a roadie,,never cut out to be a lap dancer,, last time i saw her live.

The first gig in 5 years,the comeback gig,in their hometown,where the atmosphere & anticipation were so thick you could feel it? & 4 JD tracks(exc Ceremony) were played,2 of which hadn't been heard for 18 years? & IALP too?? Fook me man,what do want?? Are you sure you were there??

I think he must be referring to the December Manchester Arena gig?

personally, I loved the Ally Pally gig.

first time I ever saw New Order, and only time with original line up.

Nearly caught Hooky's drumstick to.... well actually it just missed my forehead by 1/4 inch.

Reading was great.Manchester December not so.Underworld at that one were better.Didn't go to Manchester July but have the bootleg on cassette though would always have liked to see more footage of it than the brief snippets of it on the 5 11 DVD.Didn't go to the Ally Pally NYE one.

Listening to Ally Pally 98 due the the kindess of of a NOOler...

The band are fucking drunk as hell, but sound fantastic.

Fine Time sounds really good, better than on the Technique tour (it's a reprogrammed version).

Blue Monday is also a slightly different programmed version (it has a new intro) and lots of extra synth stuff, much better than the version they played at Reading the same year.

Can't wait to hear the Apollo show! From the footage from in on the 511 DVD, it looks like it was a stormer!

Not got the Apollo one, only the MEN/Nynex from the night before the Larrrrndon one. I was at that one - first NO gig for me.

So now me AND Zack want the Apollo.

Got Reading, think it's a fab gig. I nearly went, but didn't.

And I thank Pablo for the Ally Pally gig, Fine Time and BM with drunken Bez and Barney and lots of crazy synths was madness.

Now.....the Apollo show I would love to hear. I am surptrised to bootleg video of it has ever turned up...

I've been about 800 gigs over the past 20 years, and I know, for a stonedead fact, that New Order at the Apollo in 1998 is the best gig I have yet seen. I remember, very clearly, as "Toothache" finished, saying to my brother as it ended that it was the best night of my life. Well, up to that point, it definitely was. Reading was only about 90% as good as the Apollo, but still the second best gig I've seen yet. The atmosphere was absolutely electric that night in the Apollo - and Reading too. I was talking - I think to Al J - after and someone said it was in the top 5 of the 140 or so NO shows they'd seen. I have a review written after the shows here :

The Christmas shows were a lot less intense, a lot more relaxed, and the band were somewhat sloppy, but as Barney said on the night it was "part of the charm".

Thank you all!! You are correct,definately one of the best gigs I have ever been too,fookin' electric....as for the MEN one,definately not so good.....

You can convert the FLAC files to mp3. I have used Switch Sound File Converter developed by NCH software. It's free and very easy to use.

I can't find any of these 98 gigs to download.

Where can I find either the Apollo or Ally Pally gigs?
