Just got back from Loo's gig in Sheffield - thoroughly fucking good night out for a monday! Band sounded great, Regret was played, Bernard was in good humour and there was plenty moshing up front from the hardcore fans!!

As previously said a great performance from the band who seemed to be thoroughly enjoying themselves on stage. Well worth going to see them again.
i really enjoyed last night ,they all seemed really up for it and so was the crowd
the bad loo stuff sounds a lot better live too
Regret was great! As was the whole gig. Good vibes all round - i'm now looking forward to a second Bad Loo album with their new found confidence!

So fucking keen to see them live in New York! This is why I prefer Barney to Hooky, touring and and an album out, not covers and a tour of bass playing. Bernard sounds so much more into singing with BL as compared to the latter years of NO.

Agreed! Though I do love Hooky, he is an awesome bass player and seems like an awesome guy.
But I like that Barney is making new music (and in my opinion it's really good music, Sink or Swim and Poisonous Intent are as good as New Order), and that he is pressing into the future (with a good sprinkling of the past). Of course, I always preferred New Order to Joy Division, and I am a little sick of all of this JD nostalgia, because I think New Order were far more important. I appreciate that even though he plays old material in concerts, Barney is out touring with a new album.
I would much rather see Hooky tour with Freebass (as I like what I have heard from Freebass a lot) than run thru the same JD songs over and over again.

Anyway, I remember the backstage pic at the PSB gig that was posted by PSB's official account on Twitter, and Barney was wearing a scarf in that pic. So it's not like Barney's never worn scarves.

Agreed with you on the JD nostalgia being too much, it's almost as if NO just means "nothing" to them after all these years. It's sad as I sit and listen to NO albums for most of the day, never getting tired of them, and wishing perhaps they'd do a PCL tour. That aside, as you said a lot of the BL songs are up there with the NO tracks, and I can't wait to hear them in a live setting. I do wish they were recording gigs though, I really enjoyed that 3 song radio 2 performance.

Well, I wouldn't know how Bernard feels because I don't know him and I've never met him. But I'm very happy that he's making new music, and even though he plays some older material at times, it's nice to have the album already out and the band touring. According to what I've read, they seem to be enjoying themselves on stage, so that's nice to hear. On top of that, I've liked what they put out.

No, it doesn't. Not convinced Hooky will be making more money that Barney though. Barney's done more gigs and actually released a saleable product. Even if the arse has dropped out of the record industry these days, he's at least got something coming in, presumably. How much money would Hooky make out of his book, lecture tour and club? Not silly amounts of dosh, that's for sure. The one crowning glory is probably Hooky's deejaying, which I'd imagine he'd get a pretty penny for.

You could be right, but my starting point is that for all Hooky's activities the overheads are minimal! Bernard, however, has a full touring band that only does a handful of dates, so no economy of scale and only 200-300 per gig by the sound of it. Not knocking him, I actually love the BL album, really do, just think he can't be raking it in! Mind you, the album cost peanuts to make!
You're definitely right about Barney making less money, but he seems content with what he's got going, and that can only be a good sign for the future of BL.

All this who is making the most money is irelivent. They both have very nice houses (so does Steve) and drive cars that only a lottery win would enable me to own - so I reckon they both have enough already?
