Alright, I just got back from seeing 24 Hour Party People in this little theather in Santa Monica. I loved the movie. It showed another side of NewOrder that could only be told by Tony himeself. The scene where Ian hangs himself is very emotional!

Also, this edition of the LA Weekly has Ian on the cover and has a great article about Tony and the band. I couldn't believe it when I saw it, you don't see much NewOrder/Joy Division in the press much here!

I was suprised to see that the whole theater was full to see the movie. I thought that was great!

Anyway, I am glad the movie got here and I was able to see it on the big screen!

I'll marry you if you send me a copy of that particular LA Weekly.......

I swear, there's nothing more frustrting than being trapped in a podunk area where 24 HPP will probably not play. I think I've watched countless crappy "movie review" shows in search of one measly review of the film, all in vain. Then again, it might be a tad disconcerting if, say, Leonard Maltin praises it. That guy would watch Steven Seagal painting a house and call it "brilliant!". Anyway, just vexing.

I went to see it in DC yesterday. I actually thought it was a pretty good film. I kinda got some chills during the Joy Division scenes at the beginning. I thought it was interesting to see some of the stories surrounding factory records being dramatize on the big screen. There wasn't enough scenes with New Order in the film, that's fine, the film was pretty decent anyways.

Thanks for the stateside reviews; looks like I've got another week and a half before it opens in Portland.

Don't know what the LA Times has done in the meantime, but back in 81 they had a full page article on NO before their first gigs on the West Coast. Of course I had to 'borrow' that from the library ,like they were gonna have a need for it ever again before they tossed it out.
