I don't mean this to be a morbid reference, but I'd like to ask if anyone else has associated any of the new album's songs with the 9/11 events. I was in N.Y. one week before the act on vacation. I was listening to my order of Get Ready the entire trip. Because of the closeness of the NO release date and 9/11, I'm wondering if anyone else has experienced this same phenomenon with these new songs. If anyone is willing to talk about it, I think it would make an interesting experience to know if this has influenced many of us with our association to the songs.

The album was released in August in the UK, so no there is no connection. (Actually August or July, my memory fails!)
But there is *one* connection, it's the 911 Vocal Mix of Someone Like You that was done on September 11th by Gabriel & Dresden.. in New York City!
the release date was 27 August in the U.K....
I only know this because the poster is staring me right in the face!!!!

Have to agree with the others, no connection at all, have to say that I did not know that SLY was recorded on that fateful day though Nicos - but as soon as you sid it - the 911 bit hit home, now that's kinda spooky!
this may be slightly off topic...
front line assembly released a single for a track called "everything must perish" from the album "epitaph" on 9/11. it was quite a coincidence. if not a syncronosity!

i associate get ready with moving to my new house im in now, moved there last july & had a promo copy in the van id hired. the girlfriend was in the us when it happened & remember how hard it was to get through to her & how worried her mum was & stuff like that but no music associations.
just realised how innapropriate my avatar is for posting on this subject so changing it now.
I ordered the NewOrder Anthologies from Lars in August and they arrived on September 11th. I took a break from watching the television to listen to some NewOrder shows. I also found the apartment I currently live in later that day.

upon reading about the whole Confusion re-re-release...I decided to pop in the Substance video...and while watching confusion...what the hell pops up on my screen but the Twin Towers...it actually caused me a little bit of...hmmm...what's the word for this...not sure...but I did have to rewind it to make sure that was actually what I saw...and sure enough, they were there...
on a lighter note...when TPK was playing, the kitty cat seemed very enthralled...and she really loved the dancing leaves during the happy one...and now she seems completely mesmerized by the Shellshock video....
so...does that mean my pussy (cat) likes New Order???

Yeah, I remember watching the Confusion vid and wondering "Are those what I think they are (were)?". It's still a bit hard to see pictures of the towers, and upon digging up my old pics of my NY trip in '97 I was surprised to see I had a shot of the WTC from the side, when our bus was stopped right beside them.
In Mick Middles' book, he describes the summer of 83 and how oppressive the towers seemed in the heat.
I'll have to ask, I'll probably start another thread (because 9-11 isn't really the place for this).. but does anyone have a pet named with a link to New Order ?

After watching New Order at the 4 Area:One shows last summer, came home via New York and spent a few days sight seeing.
During my stay, like many tourists, I visited the World Trade Centre and spent a couple of hours on the observation deck admiring the incredible view.
Well, I guess if it hadn't been for NO playing in the States at that time, then I wouldn't have been there. That's as close as my personal association gets. Oh, & Al Jarvis had 'secured' an advance copy of Get Ready which received heavy rotation during the trip. This was the first time I'd heard the album in full so all the tracks were spinning round my head at that time.
