know what inspired me to look up new order on the internet today? a dream. yesterday, i dreamt that i was at a house with steve and bernard. they were telling me they had a performance coming up. i said that i could go if they could kick me down some free tix, cuz i'm completely broke in reality. bernie dug through a box of things and pulled out a ticket for me saying that it should be a pretty good seat. when i read the ticket, it said "7th level." normally that wouldn't be a good seat, unless he's talkin 7 levels of heaven. so, i decided to search for new order, on the web, and found this sight, which i just now joined.

if you have any good new order dreams to tell, here's your big chance!

Sounds like Friday night at Brixton to me when i ended up with seats in the gallery, how bloody frustrating! still at least we got an amazing view, could drink my pint in comfort and the sound was top notch compared to when i was down in the scrum the nights before!

A few of the US gigs I saw were seated - including the Atlanta show. This would have ruined the experience were it not for the addition of a small white tablet which was gifted to myself by one Kelly Roberts (oh blonde goddess where are you now?) the day before in Gainesville. What a difference that made I can tell you! I remember Rob Gretton ripping the piss out of my (not-so-very Scots) accent, shouting at me; "Where's the fuckin' parrrrty th'night then?...." and the band playing "KW-1" for us after hassling Oz about the repetitive set lists (ring any bells?)

Seats? So what?

Sorry, the dream bit; I dreamt that I shagged Kirstie Alley from "Veronicas Closet" does that keep it on topic?

seats....liverpool royal court...the worlds worst venue if you are in the seats...( as i was...back row )....it was the coldest day i can remember and the venue was freezing...if i remember rightly the barnster played the whole set in a crombie it was that cold!!!

dreams...never end!!!

Was in seats fer Birmingham NEC 89 and Liverpool 01 - the first gig I was young so it was good to take in the experience without being murdered at the front....on the other hand, at Liverpool, myself and Uncly John tried to go downstairs and get to the front, but security wouldnae allow it.......bastards! Also had seats fer Manchester MENA 98 - but we were only in them for the first song - vaulted the barrier and proceeded to our normal squashing point at the front:D

Standing room only ShugZV!

Ah, dreams involving New Order......the one a few months back, where me, Barney, Hooky and Steve were jumping trash dumpsters is still fresh in my memory.

in the year '91, i dreamt that gillian gilbert told me she was leaving new order. she said she was tired of being bossed around by those guys.

I have had countless JD and NO dreams over the years but here are a few that are fresh in my mind:

  1. There's a parade at night and New Order are coming down the street playing Bizarre Love Triangle on a float decorated with huge neon triangles that light up in such a way that the light shoots along the edge up one side of the triangle and down the next.

  2. New Order's tour bus breaks down near my grandparents' ranch in Montana and they have to hang out there for a while. I have to ask the grandparents if we can have guests and they ask who and I say "famous English musicians". And then everyone's partying and the local police are chasing us around and people keep getting caught in electric barbed-wire fences out in the fields.

  3. I am riding around on some kind of scooter listening to Transmission and I'm cutting corners and speeding and stuff and I get stopped by a cop and it's like "but officer, you don't understand, it's TRANSMISSION!"

  4. Barney, Hooky and Steve all taking a bath like rub-a-dub-dub, three men in a tub, splish splashing around. I woke up from this one having a coughing fit.

  5. Tony Wilson screaming at someone about Joy Division's choice of band name, "it's because they're STARK RAVING LOONIES!" There's more to this one but I won't go into the details. must be a 24HPP dream because the Happy Mondays are in it too, but I had it before the movie was out.

It's pretty unbelievable the number of dreams I've had on this subject in the past 15 years. Those are some of the more whimsical, lighthearted, recent ones. They just keep on coming. There is no other musical artist to match this in my experience, just JD/NO. They have really worked their way into my being I guess.

I've also heard their songs in my dreams, reproduced perfectly, or with variations.

that's funny you mentioned one about n.o. coming to your grandma's! when i was 12, i really wanted to meet new order. i dreamt that they arrived at my grandma's in a blue and white vw bus. they piled out of the driver's side door and my grandmother invited them in. steve and gillian sat quietly in seperate corners while bernard and peter joked loudly with each other. when i read their biography, i realized they each looked like they came from different time periods.

Dreams can come true you know you've got to have some you know you've got to be strong

*sniff* That was beautiful...did you write those words yourself?

Yes! absolutely! I do all my own typing, unlike Rocket.

Someone also put them to music in that perticular order once as well.

Well I think you're very talented. I could imagine a lady with an eye patch singing that very well.

well, if you're going to stick to the wet dreams, they got to be about someone!

Hey, are you sure you aren't my cousin?? My family had a blue and white VW bus when I was a kid and I'd pack shoeboxes full of tapes to bring on road trips...and sometimes my cousins and we would visit the grandparents at the same time. Then we'd get out a boombox and play music in the yard. So in a way, New Order did come piling out of a blue and white VW bus at my grandparents!

And here's another weird thing. On one of those trips I saw a presumably tiny local publication at their house called "Northern Rockies Business Review" and for a logo it had a somewhat cropped version of the Unknown Pleasures design! I clipped it and still have it in my jewel case of the CD. It's very old and yellow now. I have always wondered how the people putting that out came across that design.

And to Hooky's Wallet, I really had all of those dreams and more. Guess I'm a pretty vivid dreamer.

well, sometimes i make connections in my dreams. i could be picking up on the van you were traveling in on your way to listen to new order! i grew up in key west. my dad was the only other new order fan i knew til i moved to denver. i tried to turn my cousins onto new order, but they didn't like it because it's my dad's music and they were into rap and heavy metal aswell as whatever else overrated crap they had on the radio back then.

speaking of picking up on things, i was wondering what new order were up to, back in '90. i dreamt that the band were on a football field, wearing red and white jerseys. i figured that was just a bunch of brain noise until i heard "world in motion." in '94, i bought a video that that showed them actually on the field in those kinda jerseys. i can't believe they wrote a song for a football championship! how cheesy, eh?
