I used to have a tape recording of a New Order interview with John Peel from (I think!) the early 90s on Radio 1. They picked records that Peel played. Does anybody happen to remember this and, a long shot I know, have a list of the tracks that NO picked? I do recall one of the tracks was Cortez The Killer by Neil Young.

They did an interview thing on Peel's show where they picked tracks. December 1998 .It was on around the time of the Christmas gigs of that year and i think was on the night sandwiched between the Manchester Evening News Arena gig on Dec 29th and the Ally Pally NYE do. Yeah so the show would have been aired 30/12/98. I did listen to it at the time but don't have a recording.Remember scoffing xmas mince pies while listening.All four of them including Gillian were on the show.Only track i can remember though was i think Gillian picking Candi Staton/The Source 'You've Got The Love' the 98 remix (?)

Also i think the Peel session they did that month was aired during the show too. Paradise, Atmosphere, True Faith (with Bobby Gillespie guest backing vocals) and something else

I've got the whole 1998 Peel Show show on two highish quality cassettes somewhere. Really should get them transferred onto the PC sometime.
As far as I remember it was a fully fledged interview from all members of the band, their choice of favourite songs by other artists and of course the five new re-recordings interspersed amongst it all: Isolation, Touched, True Faith, Paradise and Atmosphere. They later showed up on the "In Session" CD six years later which is out of print (?) now.
That was a great time to be a fan. A lot of optimism in the air; they were riding the wave of a comeback and you knew there were gigs and a new album just over the horizon 
plus the side projects were all churning out new material respectively. Spoilt rotten. I suppose most important of all... Peel was still around.
Hate to sound nostalgic but it really was better in them days

It did me head in though waiting. They'd come back but a new album was still a couple of years off.Those years 1999, 2000 were an eternity and personally i was actually really really frustrated by about late 2000. The side projects weren't a big consolation for me.They had their moments but i'd have preferred Get Ready to have been released around 1999/2000.Though Brutal released on The Beach in early 2000 quashed the frustration somewhat.I remember Mark 'n Lard airing it on their afternoon show at the time.
Ditto - it was a good interview and have a copy too on cassette. There were some good songs played too from everyone's choices. From memory Twisted Tenderness appeared around the same time and we have had Video 586 appear too :-)
