Hi Jack. I know it must be difficult for you to hear some of the anti Hooky comments on this site. Let me clear one thing up. I love your old man. Like I do the rest of New Order. It pains me that they aren't still playing together. It pains me they never made it to the levels say U2 did.

Thanks for the offer. It's very kind. But I cannot accept. I will however continue to offer my support to both the light and new order by attending gigs when I can and buying their music. As I always have. I plan to make 2012 year I attend a lot of gigs and it's great your old man is touring as it is pleasing to hear of a rumoured new order uk tour too.

I would like to hear new music from the light. I kind of miss Hooky singing Monaco and revenge songs. I would love to hear what this new band are capable of.

Put the JD tribute shows to rest. Step out of the shadow, as a brilliant new band.

That's genuinely good to hear and best of luck. It would be nice to see you guys move onto playing material of your own and possibly fit some choice New Order, Revenge and Monaco tracks into the live set as well. I'm sure The Light could storm through Dreams Never End.

I think speaking honestly there is possibly a bit of "Joy Division weariness" amongst some areas of the fan base. Since Control came out in '07 there has perhaps been a tiny bit of a JD overload. Not to detract from what a legendary band they were but I think once The Light start moving beyond JD you'll find that most fans will lap up the new stuff.

Especially if the songs contain that bass :smoking:

well 33 years oF listening aint made this fan weary of Joy division, just cos people are anti Hooky dont mean this is no longer a Joy division . newordersite .Hooky is playing Joydivision songs, something I thought i would never see. Equally im realy happy to have Neworder back without Joy division songs in the set, for the first time in years their demonstrating how good new order are.

For me its the best of both worlds at the moment,Hooky in Buxton later in the month and Neworder april may, enjoy the moment and keep it coming.especially to Portsmouth.

The attraction is held like a weight deep inside

nobody has any issue with a band covering Joy Division songs. which is what The Light are doing.

Hooky isn't even really playing bass guitar - he spends more time pretending he is Ian Curtis. I saw them - and they are a great time.

but The Light is not New Order or Joy Division.

just sure seems like any posts about a Joy Division cover band should be in some other forum. how about Music For Pleasure, where side-projects are discussed.

or please change the name of this forum from "chat and talk about new order" -

They (New Order including Hooky) spent a good chunk of 2005/6 playing Joy Division songs. John Peel Day in 2005 was solely Joy Division songs. MvC in 2006 was solely Joy Division songs. The Live In Glasgow DVD has no less than five Joy Division songs in the set (counting Ceremony). Not to mention previous 1998 performances of Heart & Soul and Isolation. Basically, he definitely played Joy Division songs before and on a regular basis.

Don't get me wrong, I love Joy Division and got into them before New Order but at the end of the day why focus so heavily on 2 years of your career when there are 30 other years of such legendary music to draw on? The main complaint of The Light's defenders is "they're his songs too" so please, play more of them!

I've seen The Light and they do play well, I'd just like to see them play something more varied. That's not to belittle what they've been doing but there was only so far those two Joy Division albums could be toured, realistically.

As I said, best of luck to them making new music, I'll check it out.

Ker-ching. Do you really think he'd pull in audiences a big as at present with new material or a mixture of old? Certainly not abroad I imagine. He's cashing in on his pension - good luck to him.

Maybe some people (like me) are still interested and think it belongs to New Order stuff.

If you don't like it simply don't read the thread.

I Think so , i mean who would bother where new order gigs are advertised these days given they have come back. Mind they did advertise them in todays sunday mirror, New order sold out , cool as. Will they play Dreams never end after unleashing age of consent after all these years? so many questions , so little time.

here i am in a room full of exits

Barney wouldn't even remember they had a song called 'Dreams never end', let alone the fact that he didn't sing it! And he wouldn't have the balls to play it anyway.

This thread is for Peter Hook and the Light, New Order hadn't done anything between 2006 and 2011, yet there were threads on NOOL for BL or whatever soundtrack piece Gillian and Steve were doing.

Got this today for Hooky to sign for me.

Why wouldn't Barney have the balls to play Dreams Never End?

And who would sing it anyways? Chappers?

I have to say that tonight's show in Bratislava was amazing... Shadowplay was blistering, and the whole crowd singing Transmission and LWTUA made Hooky visibly moved ("thank you, you have made an old man very happy")...

First night in Wellington will be the Unknown Pleasures set, the following night will be a completely different setlist with the Closer set.

Auckland date is unchanged, Closer set.

:shades:

Hey Jack, we met backstage at the last Auckland gig (Powerstation). Hope your dad got the 1985 New Order photos from the same venue I showed him and then emailed. If your working on some other songs for the Closer set, it would be great to hear The Only Mistake or They Walked In Line when you play Auckland again in April - both cracker JD tracks for me.

Can't see why this shouldn't be on this forum, after all there are postings related to bad loo too.

As another thread states, ther site should be slimmed down, too many sub forums for such little activity, if you don't like the thread, just read another one.

Manchester gigs added, May 18th & 19th 2012, performing 'Still' live for the first time ever, in aid of Mind and Forever Manchester charities.

Peter Hook And The Light perform 'Still', the third and final of Joy Division’s releases live, sequentially and in its entirety for the first time at The Factory in Manchester on Friday 18th May and Saturday 19th May 2012.

Released in October 1981 to counter the slew of unofficial and bootleg releases which followed Ian Curtis’ death, “Still” firstly comprised studio out-takes and mainly unreleased or lesser heard tracks while the second side is a live recording of Joy Divisions’ last ever concert at High Hall, Birmingham on 2nd May 1980.

At the concert Hooky and The Light are to perform each disc separately, starting with the studio recording and then replicating the final ever Joy Division concert in a double header alongside various other tracks from the band's back catalogue.

Peter Hook And The Light Perform Joy Division’s 'Still' Friday 18th May & Thursday 19th May 2012 The Factory, Manchester from 8pm 112 – 118 Princess Street Manchester, M1 7EN

In Association With Mind And Forever Manchester

In what has now become an annual event, Hooky & The Light will perform the 'Still' gigs in association with Mind, a mental health charity, and Forever Manchester, a charity supporting local initiatives within the city.
