this might have been touched on before, but what the hell.

i'm digging into NO's older catelogue and going beyond best ofs and compilations and side projects...and i'm discovering that some songs sound very much alike.

i've concluded that Everything gone green+586=blue monday

586 has the some of the same samples and loops, and the vocal melody line for everything gone green is eerily similar to BM.

and angel dust uses a very similar drum beat as TBHOG in the beginning (maybe i'm wrong, i've only heard a live version of this song)

has anyone noticed this?

The bass sequencer line in Mr.Disco is borrowed from State of the Nation.

Way of Life pinches the bass riff from LWTUA, as does As It Is When It Was.

Thieves Like Us thieved the hookline (;)) from Hot Chocolate's Emma.

hey, that's a good point. i've always noted that too! actually, that's a pretty good technique they use. a good artist works off of life's principles. you realize their are only so many elements that all things are made of! and there are so many elements new order/joy division songs are made of! i find that other artists recycle there favorite riffs and samples, aswell. and that's another way to keep it consistant. so you can say, "hey, that's a new order song!" -my $.02
