When did the Hooky Cash in start?

Just been glancing through the wonderful "YouTube" thread below. It's not really surprising that some folk are so upset when you look at the huge gulf between some of fantastic stuff available for free on there and the current state of affairs detailed above. People have gone out of their way over the years to record this stuff and distribute it to anyone else who cares out of nothing else but love for - and loyalty to - the band.

A bit of mutual respect might not have gone amiss somewhere along the way. That is all.

1985: Blue Monday singles from a couple years before made negative revenue. The Hacienda, just a few years old starts taking in and being supported by Low-Life's revenue.

Now: Hooky selling off trivial stuff at outrageous prices that even his greatest fans balk at.

I can't be the only one waiting with bated breath for FAC100786, the reissue of the Factory menstrual egg timer in 21st century digital format? 1. opportunity to play bass with Hooky? I suppose I'll give this the benefit of the doubt, although if anyone wants to learn bass the Music teacher at my school does private lessons and is much cheaper. And probably a better teacher as well*

2. A gig where you can only go if you have the right credit card?

Freebass: Band of the people.

*I cannot wait for the usual suspects to come on here and say how beneficial it would be to spend a few minutes with Hooky teaching you how to play bass, and how that would be of far more value than any kind of proper tuition.

On a 'chuckle' note... all the local newspapers such as Bognor Regis Times are selling the Goodwood festival, as buy a ticket for Friday or Saturday, and get the Sunday free (i.e. the night Hooky is closing).

Only thing on the agenda is a hope that he will make good music again. Seems a bit distant right now, but i would hope he can rip some new killer basslines once more, and at an affordable mass-produced price.

I don't care if people get special access to Freebass or PH by being a customer of a particular merchant (in this case amex)...if the merchant is paying the band then they have a right to invite who they like.

To restate my original position...no-one questions the "right" of PH to create and sell whatever he likes at whatever price to whomever he likes...but we have a "Right" to be disappointed if he prices many of us way out of hearing/buying the music itself (I don't even argue with us being priced out of the packaging...thats fine by me as I'm in it for the music)...especially after us buying all of those reissues over the years and showing that we want to support the band's ability to make a living.

Hooky didn't set the price for the ltd ed book release. The publishers did. He agreed to do it by making it worthwhile and by giving the fans some extras, like: the EP, the dancefloor, the signature, the postcards, the artwork etc. Good on him I say. Have a day off...
