Luxury collectors’ editions / sets of The Hacienda – How Not To Run A Club Showcased For First Times At Vintage

A range of strictly limited edition collector’s items will be released and showcased for the first time, marking Peter Hook and The Light’s closing performance of ‘Unknown Pleasures’ with an orchestra and choir at the inaugural Vintage at Goodwood festival.

In honour of the appearance, original designer of the iconic Unknown Pleasures artwork Peter Saville has produced a new, updated and unique interpretation for 2010. Printed in gold on black and white it is his first official re-design of the work and will be exclusively available at Vintage as a premium quality T Shirt in a strictly limited run of 250.

The design for the T-shirt can be viewed here - http://myurl.in/Pq6ud

Also launched at Vintage at Goodwood are luxury editions of Hook’s acclaimed book on the Fac 51 Hacienda years, How Not To Run A Club. Publisher Foruli’s design team have crafted two highly desirable and collectable box sets which reflect and build upon The Hacienda’s widely imitated visual heritage and include signed and individually numbered hard back editions, an exclusive 10” record of new material recorded especially by Hook and rare art prints.

Lastly, a limited number of 3000 CD recordings of the full orchestral and choral Vintage at Goodwood performance will be available via pre-order, for collection straight after the gig or via the post. Pre-orders of the CD will be available before the event at http://peterhooksthelightlive.sandbag.uk.com (link will be active from 9th August 2010).

All will be complemented by, and available from, a pop up Hacienda area on the specially created high street at the festival on Sunday 15th August. Featuring decor and items from the club, Hook will be appearing from 5pm to meet, greet fans and sign the above or any other related items of memorabilia for them.

As announced last month, Hook closes the music and fashion festival on Sunday August 15th performing vocals to Joy Division’s debut album from Factory Records in its entirety, complemented by a choir and orchestra as well as playing other Joy Division and Warsaw tracks.

Dubbed ‘The Festival of Our Lives’, Vintage at Goodwood will take place 13th -15th August combining the best of British cool over five decades. Co-founded by Wayne and Gerardine Hemingway, (of Red or Dead fame) and Lord March (the mastermind behind successful international events such as Glorious Goodwood, Revival and Festival of Speed), the festival will additionally feature catwalk shows, exhibitions, five on site night clubs and the largest collection of vintage market sellers ever.

Teacher will be along shortly to complain.

I witnessed hooky fart today and it was the most majestic experience of my life, it smelt like butterscotch and had a rasp like Dizzy Gillepsie.

That doesnt surprise me, and I daresay I speak for most of the board when i say that.

Anyway, during this performance of seminal post punk album, where in the holy name of fuck are the choir going to fit in?

You must be fucking joking!

I would say I've seen few things more embarrassing than this, but truth be told, I've lost count of the shameless cash ins that I see on this board on a regular basis.

Someone record it and put it online for free for fuck's sake. I won't be there to do it unfortunately - I have a hair washing appointment.

Nice way to benefit the artists involved there.

Some people seem to think it's OK to steal the music, unfortunately some of these people are educating the future generation.

And Id bet an English fiver that most of the naysayers will still listen to a copy if they can.

And then say it was shit.

I dont know where all the animosity comes from. I dont like everything this band has done so I listen to what I do like. And when I was a poor student I couldnt afford to see New Order but I didnt bitch about them not considering the skint fans.

The people moaning on here would be the first to criticise if the band were just lazing around...

I would always try to listen to something before buying it, there should be somewhere where we could listen to a minute or so of the track to allow us to decide whether we should buy or not, considering the economic climate at the moment, gone are the days where I would buy something just because it's New Order related, and despite what some may think, there's a few tracks I don't like and I don't like everything Hooky has done.

Thats why God created itunes. Even amazon have started doing mp3 downloads where you can preview it first.

I wouldn't be taking this stance if it wasn't for the fact he's charging £600 for a 4 track EP of recordings and a book many of us on here already have.

I'm all for championing the artist - but when those same artists take liberties.....

And even some artists even send out a track from their upcoming album to fans as a preview (usually on their mailing list) to encourage them to buy it. If you don't like it and don't feel like buying the album, oh well, and if you liked the song and get excited about the album and eventually buy it...that's a nice thing.

Steve Jobs will love you for that:laugh:

I'd love it to be on iTunes, but I doubt Hooky would.

Why? Because the music would be accessible to the masses?

Correct. Who'd stump up the 600 quid for the boxset then?

Who will stump it up anyway?

No, to put it bluntly anything Mr Sumner and Mr Hook have done since 2006 has been fookin wank! I can understand them milking the cash cow. But it has been poor. Very poor!! I love New Order/Joy Division - imo the best music group Britain has ever produced. It's just embarrassing the shite they are releasing now

Cant agree - WFTSC is a decent album - and in Who's Joe - one of my favourite tracks up with Sunrise and Crystal. The Bad Lieutenant album is also ok- not brilliant but with 4/5 really good tracks. Much better than most toss out there anyway.

I dont think people mind cashing in as long as its the right sort of cashing in. I.E. they can afford it.

Correct, I'm curious how much the Goodwood live CD will be sold for.

These "sandbag" live releases are normally £15 for a CD/double CD...which is about right for a mixing desk quality recording (should you want one).

I don't mind the live CD on the night thing too much, they're at least affordable and a good way for bands to increase revenue. The fans get a memento, the bands get most of the cash directly, depending on their deal of course. Those with 360 deals get less no doubt.

I think they have churned out plenty of rubbish but I really like "Sink or Swim". That T-Shirt looks cool but the expressions "limited edition & Signed" are wearing thin, hopefully unlike the T shirt.

Next shirt should be in a drab blue, hell at this rate make it in some off beat colors like maroon.
