Just checked my e-mail, I have received a promo advert for the 24 Hour Party People video!!

Doesn't give any dates - but at the bottom of the poster it says "On DVD and VHS NOW"

Anyone got any more info? Definitely gonna buy it - be good to see it again (I was a wee bit pished when I seen it at the pictures:lol: )

If you have nothing sensible to add, then please refrain from upsetting the Karma of this serious thread, you have been warned time and time again Mr Gregson:nod: And as that big poof Morrissey would mutter "This joke isn't funny anymore" now kindly piss off, put yer nose against the wall, and think long and hard about what you have done.....and don't come back here until ye've got something sensible to say (which could take some time guys & gals!)

:moon: :D

I'm away to the pub shortly, next time I check this thread.....I expect some serious replies;)

I remember cruising the movie webpage and wondering "DVD and video August 23rd? Seems a bit pessimistic to be going to video so early after a Stateside release..." but of course they meant only in the UK. Dammit.....

As I understand it the ad refers to video/DVD on RENTAL only at this point, the movie being available to buy later in the year......

Still a bit slack not to include a date of release, though.

Glad to see the promo's fer the band are as useful as ever! :nonono:

This is a pain in the arse - I thought it was definitely gonna be available to buy!

The company dealing with these video's should really have offered the fans the chance to buy this first, how many people are gonna go out and hire it - then copy it and not buy the original when it actually IS available to buy!

Or is it me being cynical again? :evil4:

Well, I reckon we'll only have to wait around 4-6 weeks for the DVD to become available on retail (low[er]-budget movies tend to have a much shorter rental run than big flicksd] and, with a bit of luck, they'll include loads of juicy out-takes and other goodies. I heard that the original cut featured lots more New Order-related material that didn't make the final version. There was also a bit with the Roses playing at the Hacienda that didn't mke the final edit either, so hopefully they'll bung all this stuff on as well......

Shug, I think there is some agreement whereby the film makers allow the rental companies a rent-only period before the video/DVD is released on general sale. This gives the rental company a better chance of getting something out of it.

Recently AOL Time Warner started releasing Video/DVDs for rent & sale simultaneously. Result - some of the major rental chains ceased stocking ALL their releases.

Money is pretty much always the root cause of these situations I'm afraid.
