New Live Album?

just had a shufty on ebay. bootleg off mixing desk of reading festival available for those interested. states quality excellent.

It's the widely available bootleg from 1993. A very good Radio 1 transmission with the 2 tracks (not aired) added on from an audience recording. Recommended but pricey at £30.

I think Glasgow 1989 would make a pretty good record (with the proper sound quality, of course) Readin 93' would be nice as well

I would prefer it if I never heard another New Order Live album ever again. Such things are completely unnecessary in my opinion. Considering how much of a cabaret band they became post-2000, I suppose it's probably for the best that we don't hear Bernard desecrating so many untold JD/NO classics in his characteristic 'style'.....

I'm a young man, so I only ever got to see New Order in Chicago in 2005, and they were fantastic, nowhere close to being a cabaret band. My pal Farrell, who had seen them numerous times in 1983, 1986, 1987, 1989, was also at the Chicago 2005 show, and said it was the best he had ever seen them.

All down to opinion, I guess.

Every gig from 1998 onwards had the JD experience. Know what you mean although I have to admit that Finsbury 2002 was superb and with the help of Mr Cuningham they were very polished live. I am more interested in the gigs from early 80's right through until 1993 for the purposes of a live album.

Have that too. Incidentally I'm a big fan of 'Run' and 'Guilty Partner' but on the last DVD Bernard says they didn't work live.

I'm a fan of Guilty Partner which they attempted to play live at Manchester MEN in 1998. It was a disaster; the vocals were mistimed and they had to restart the whole track. Embarrassing! Not sure if this was the one and only time they played it live?!

Interestingly, Guilty Partner was played twice within two days of each other, at the 'Temptation' shenanagans December 98. Never before, never since.

No they didn't despite me and a group abusing Barney in the silent bits between songs. (It was recorded live).

I was bashed with that inflatable thingy in that vid by another chap who comes on here, and it was launched at Barney during a guitar solo about two thirds into the song. They cut away from that bit though.

Hello Burt. The inflatable Penguin!! they kept it by the way but it did appear on the front of the above mentioned BBC Radio 1 release which I always thought was odd.

Inflatable penguin?? I thought that was "Ian" the blow-up skeleton??!

That was 1991 though. Things had changed alot by then.

I might be wrong about the live album thing I just seem to remember reading a piece about Factory pre-demise and their vision of right and wrong.

They must have changed policies quite frequently then, because this is what Tony Wilson said in 1981 when accused of cashing in with "Still":

"A band's work should include a live representation. We had planned to do a Joy Division live album all along."
