...is "Regret," according to hipper-than-thou Pitchfork.
A song seemingly about settling down and looking back, it felt as much farewell as comeback, and later reunions haven't produced anything to displace it as their last truly great single.
I dunno; "Crystal" isn't quite as good, but I'd call that a truly great single without hesitation.
Crystal is a lame song with a boring chord progression and bad lyrics...not that different than many other New Order singles, mind, but there's no innovative synth work or surprising elements to save it.
I think Crystal is a stonewall classic. Their greatest song of the past twenty years.

I understood, but it was referenced in the original link as New Order's best post-'90s single.
I think WFTSC(song) is pretty good, and I love Turn not that they're better than Regret, but that doesn't make them bad

yip... and very little else to even graze it. Still one classic is ermmm all we need from an eight year reformation. Here's to the next one.
I prefer Crystal to Regret in every way. I just like it more as a song, I love how huge and epic Crystal feels.
Just remember hearing it when it came out and thinking, "Wow, they are back."
I like the synth stuff in Crystal a lot.

Im not trying to devalue Pitchfork but 'Republic' doesnt feature in the Top 100 90's album list but some album by Ride does.

That first Ride album was good though.

That first Ride album was good though.
Ride never made a consistent album, but they wrote a bunch of very good songs. Taste, Drive Blind and From Time To Time to mention just a few. And Leave Them All Behind is in my all time Top 10 - utterly amazing that one.

Is this my chance to once again state that 'Crystal' wouldn't even be in my top 5 songs off Get Ready? Plodding and dull. Top 5 since the 90's would read..

Now that was a totally wasted opportunity. A fully fledged shoegazing version of The Model would have been amazing, but instead they tried to make a carbon copy of the KW original, which of course wasn't nearly as good as the original. A boring and utterly pointless cover.
On topic: I've nothing against Regret, but I don't think it's good enough to fit on a 200 Greatest Songs Of The 90's list, and certainly not as high as #34, whilst both Crystal and 60 MPH would definitely be on my 200 Greatest Songs Of The 00's list.
Well done, Pitchfork. They put "I Wanna Be Adored" by The Stone Roses at #51 and "There She Goes" by The La's at #111.
If songs from different decades are allowed on this Greatest Songs Of The 90's list, then why not include "I Am The Walrus" by The Beatles as well? Or "Symphony no 5" by Ludwig van?
Regret's been played to death, probably 'cause it was the most classically NO song they did in the entire 90s. Incidentally, Turn is a personal favourite, some say it was mooted for single release but...

Thats probably why I liked it. Wor, imagine a shoe-gazing version. It'd still be going now 18 years later.

Love "Leave Them All Behind", discovered it on the brilliant TrueBrit compilation CD which also features a song you might know called "True Faith" 
Its unfair saying Regret is the last great single, Crystal was very very good, though nothing off WFTSC really stands out
