Bit of Divine intervention, scoping through this topic I got an email from American Express, it's a sign.

Given a clear choice a large chunk of fans would have opted for the CD in the first place rather than the compressed version. Many of us are now left with the "trap" of having to buy it twice rather than just once on the preferred medium as we would've liked in the first place.

Before all the usual foghorns of "you don't have to buy it!" start up, this is a valid point. I think it's safe to say that most people still prefer CDs and at the time of "first" release for "It's A Beautiful Life" there was little mention of a physical release; indeed for a while it didn't even look like there was gonna be one so most of us just forked out for the MP3s thinking "this is it". Now the CD has appeared that seems a bit pointless now. Many of us will essentially be paying for the same album twice (yes plus a few "new" tracks) rather than the single payment we should have been making. I mean, come on lads.

This isn't me having an aimless, nasty and petulant rant at Hooky & co but I think it's worth highlighting. Even the track listing for the recently announced "The God Machine" single is entirely made up of LP tracks we already have. Plus the recent 5 track Arthur Baker "You Don't Know (This About Me)" remix EP is essentially just one new remix with the rest of the package bulked out by either songs we already have or instrumentals of songs we already have. If you bought the Two Worlds Collide EP which no doubt most people buying anything Freebass related will have then there's loads of duplication involved and it's frankly shite value for money.

But then yes... I don't have to buy it

hmm, i never bought the mp3s as i knew it would be releawsed on cd, that was confirmed ages ago wasn't it?

Well yeah, we've known the CD was in the works for a couple of months now but not when the album was first released. I think the question about a CD format was asked by a few people at the time but at least one person close to the band answered "don't know".

To be honest, most fans of any band aren't arsed sitting around for 4 months waiting for a hard copy of the album when the MP3s are available. Especially if the band are touring the bloody thing before the CD is meant to arrive. Most fans probably want to know a few of the tunes before they see the band live... I would anyway.

As I say I thought it was a point worth mentioning. It's a pretty indirect way of charging the fanbase for the same album twice which is a bit naff.

It is however, what we have come to expect over the years.

That is very funny- surprised it has taken this long for an autograph simulation joke :)
