Question:

Did N.O. ever get any royalties from Rihanna's "Shut Up And Drive"? If so, were they given the appropriate songwriting credits and was a deal struck up-front, or did they have to go thorugh legal channels?

Whilst plenty of people have commented on the elements of Blue Monday in the song, I can't actually see N.O. being given songwriting credit anywhere (and I don't recall them mentioning about receiving money from it in any interviews).

It would be criminal if they never received any payment from a song which is so centrally based around BM's hook. Were NO too busy in-fighting at the time to get involved?

I cant hear it myself but then, out of natural instinct, I would always turn it off if it came on.

That must be worth a few quid.

Seconded, plus she can't hold her own notes live, it'd be like owning a water filter thats broken.

Being asian, thats highly unlikely. Be a bit out of place wouldn't it?

NO are fully creditted on the CD single inlay.

She could've got away with not creditting them though; the sample doesn't jump out at you.

Absolutely not...today's Klan is much more inclusive...

Shame, I guess my reading skils are on par with a second grader.

interesting I wouldn't have noticed this sample either - are there any other no/jd samples about??

I'm surprised that no one noticed that Shut Up and Drive's entire melody and chord progression is totally copped from Blue Monday...

However, the song doesn't actually sample New Order....it samples Orgy COVERING New Order...
