oooh. Just pressed listen. Sounds nothing like BL. Barney doing rougher vocals. Backing singers sound fantastic.

Probably shite though. Sounded a bit X-factor-ish.

But its for charidee..

Is that a cover of the Elvis track? If its the same, I doubt Bernard will be able to outdo Nick Cave's version

trust me.. he struggles.

Even Freddie Mcgregor wins...

BUT then, only thirty seconds of the track is available, so perhaps Matt Evans (or the bloke who plays bass whateverhisnameis) kicks in with a new killer bass-line, Jake hits new highs with an axe guitar solo, and the whole lot gets swamped with a powering bass-driven electronic groove moving listlessly into a 'wave your hands in the air' club classic. For the rest of the track. You never know.

Not that bad actually, judging from the preview.

I don't think that's Bernard singing. Seems like it's Jake.

It sounds like Bernard to me...maybe it's because he's singing in a lower key than normal, but still the vocal intonations are clearly Bernard. I doubt that's Jake singing the entire song.

You are nuts! That is totally Sumner.

It is sweet to hear him extending his vocal style through this cover, which could explain some confusion about who is singing it?

When I first heard Electronic, I thought his voice sounded very different as well. I almost remember thinking maybe Marr or someone else was singing at the time! Not as bad though as the time I played a 45rpm Cocteau Twins LP at 33rpm and thought they had changed to a male vocalist until my girlfriend at the time noticed I was an idiot. That relationship didn't last much after that.

This song is a sweet little ditty, probably worth hearing in full, and possibly the type of song that grows on you.

I like it how Barney sings the 'tto' in the 'Ghetto'!

Man this is unreal. Who are the backup singers?

First, Vietnam was revealed as the inspiration for Love Vigilantes.

Now, Barney covers the inspiration for Electronic's Gangster.

I prefer more mystery.

Elvis + New Order = that's heaven for me, for I equally love both performers. And, of course, the version is really cool.

Bad Lieutenant should record an entire album of Elvis covers in New Orleans with Fats Domino on the piano.

Damn... I guess you're right... confirmed right here in an interview: TAS Interview

Johnny Marr done one too. And Ian Brown. And Mick Hucknall. It's a Manc mini-fest.

Sumner does it again with BL, anticipating the full length version.

No probably about it

Dreadful song (even the original).

But fair play to them, as it's for charity.

Unmistakably Bernard. I have my doubts as to whether Dawn Zee is doing backup, though...

I like it--it's sweet like a dessert cheese.

Whatever... it didn't sound like him to me, okay? No need to be a jackass, you know.

Sounds nice enough to me.

Bernard is just showing his street cred

Vocal sounds a bit autotuned to me. Just slightly too smooth for Bernard!

In The Ghetto will sit nicely alongside the Vietnam cover :shades:
