Just got an email on this...
Kevin Cummins is releasing a book of his Joy Division photos, and there is a gallery here in NYC (White Palace or something like that) having a reception for it.
Cummins will be there and Bernard will be having a conversation with the evenings host.
I'm very excited to be going!
For those of us in NY is there any way of getting in on the action? (eg is it a closed event?)

For one night only, New York’s White Columns gallery will play host to an exhibition of Joy Division photos by Kevin Cummins.
The exhibition is also the launch party for Cummins’ new 208-page monograph, Joy Division, which is published by Rizzoli and collects the photographer’s images of the band, as well as selected other ephemera including excerpts from Ian Curtis’s notebooks. It also features a foreword by novelist Jay McInerney and a conversation between Cummins and Bernard Sumner. Full details of the edition here.
Much has been made of Anton Corbijn’s contribution towards sculpting the band’s visual identity, but it is in fact Cummins who is responsible for the many of the most iconic shots of the band. Granted full access to Joy Division around the time they formed, he now describes their work together as them “learning to pose as a band while I was learning to shoot bands”.
The exhibition takes place at 6pm on November 1, accompanied by a Factory Records soundtrack from Matthew Higgs; entry is free and all are welcome. More information

Kevin Cummins photos are only interesting because of who they feature. From a technical point of view his work is shite.His style is bland and uncreative.

It it official that Bernard is going to be there , does anyone have any information on this.
Well what's odd is that it is not mentioned on the BL website -- you would think that they would make mention of it if he were coming to NYC? 
The more I think of it, the wording on the invite was confusing. It mentions a 'Conversation With Bernard Sumner". I think the conversation is actually in the book, I now don't think Bernard is going to be there. I think it will just be Cummins.

seemingly follows that the conversation is in the book and not at the gallery.
aw, shit. i was all geared-up and ready to go. that's a letdown. i've never seen new order live, but... ah, shit, i'm fucking disappointed. the wording is rather misleading. i'm pretty sure they'd make a bigger deal of it if sumner was coming.
