Here is a link for what is mainly Technique demos, a strange collection of bits, a lot just 30 seconds or so. Not sure how well known it is.

The whole thing was made available on purelivegigs.com (defunct now) for years.
The eBay auction is via the person who sold the original tape in the first place.

Looking at the feedback, the ebay guy has been making hundreds of £££ off this in the last few months. Ouch. ![]()
On the other hand, it shows that there is still interest out there. In this day and age, people are still willing to pay through the nose for poor quality demos, just to get to hear something previously unheard by New Order.
I guess this is what happens when "deluxe" or "collectors" reissues don't do what they're supposed to do? We don't need the hit singles that everybody's already got, and that already have been reissued to death.

That's depressing. I figures what he's earned he's probably deserved, considering people will just rather pay for the convenience than hunt it down for free.
I counted exactly what he's sold since he started to sell this again this October...24 copies for 270.47GBP...so a pretty steady moneymaker but not exactly the gigantic windfall one would imagine reading what you wrote above....averages around 10 quid a pop, subtracting for shipping.

Yeah agree.
I don't call 10GBP "through the nose"...it's probably *just about* what the Technique 1988 demos are worth, really, and about in line with what people would pay for such a thing at less-than-scrupulous retailers. The only real song of interest to anybody except 'ardcore types is the version of Dream Attack on there...

Depends on what you figure on what they're supposed to do...which I reckon is sit on a shelf and be sold off for somewhat more than what the buyer paid for it (what Johnny James said)...that it has anything of interesting musically beyond what's already out there is mostly orthogonal to that goal.
The thing is, most people know it's all over the net for free. I'm not into paying money for a cdr, but I would buy a silver cd of it!

Have to assume you're speaking generally, as in this particular case, the seller clearly states it's not a silver:
"This CD is a re-mastered copy of that cassette, recorded onto a CD-R. Comes in a plastic sleeve."

That's my point, I know it's a cdr! If it was out as a silver CD, I would buy it straight away. But, unfortunately, no-one is going to bother putting out a New Order bootleg these days, we just get the same old Joy Division stuff over and over.

I'm guessing the True Faith demo has the word "drugs" in it. If it's already out there, my apologies...
Burt won't like this, but a-ha have included all ten demos from both their latest CD re-releases of Hunting High And Low & Scoundrel Days. Talk Talk also released their demo of the Talk Talk (itself) classic on one of their never-ending list of compilations.
Simple Minds (willingly or otherwise) are set to release yet another Best Of. What the second Depeche Mode remix compilation has in store remains to be seen.
