Peter Hook: I am not living in the past

Hooky has his say again. The various rights and wrongs of the JD stuff have been argued to death but as a fan I'm interested in this bit:

"And I play on a lot of new material," he continues, mentioning a recent session with electronic duo AutoKratz.

"I do a lot of new stuff and I do a lot of old stuff and to me the interesting thing is doing both.

The Hybrid stuff last decade was great, if it's anything like that it could be worth checking out.

I would like to check it out if they came over here...

I can't moan often enough that I had tickets for the "Unknown Pleasures" Germany tour - and they cancelled it due to trouble with the organisator here.

Wheres all the -ahem- new music then?

Nothing too wrong with it; Can't begrudge a guy for making a living, we all need to, but we aren't stoopid; Fac 51 mk.2 is the past, Hacienda records is the past, Joy Division is the past etc...

and New Order is history.

If Hooky takes 'Still' on the road, then that would certainly be a bridge too far. It's no wonder New Order split, as Barney hates to look back to the past, yet Peter is obsessed with it!!!

I saw him and Howard Marks on 'Unknown Pleasures' tour at Norwich, and he was still getting some basic facts wrong - he couldn't even remember playing Norwich with New Order, though that's hardly surprising... :)

Thanks for that. To my mind, Hooky is simply having his cake and eating it - gigging and playing without the hassle of writing and promoting. Wasn't the Barnster collaborating too: Digitalism and Westbam?

Personally I don't mind all these Hooky JD gigs as it's always a greart night out. It was the same with the Pistols reunion - in my heart of hearts I wasn't really in favour, but when I heard they were playing within reasonable distance I thiught fuck, am I gonna stay at home in my underwear with a pizza or see the show? The EP's an all right idea too, though I guess most are only buying it for 'Pictures'. What I don't dig is the project of ths live album, partly 'cos stripped of the thrill of being there many live albums are pooh, and also 'cos who needs to listen to a 30-year-later copy when you've got the original?
