Our good friend Chris McCarter recorded the Sydney and Melbourne shows
Chris was kind enough to share this gig with a me a while back, and I must say he did a fantastic job recording it. The Light were in top form that night; great performance. This release is a must have!

It's not a cdr, it's a manufactured cd in a digipac, also comes as a limited edition 2lp on coloured vinyl with 2 extra tracks.

Impressed by that - all proceeds? That's great - I have family members directly affected by the floods, I commend this decision by Hooky. Not too sure about the idea of The Light in general as a concept, mind you, but respect to all for this particular decision. I've already donated directly to the cause and as I already have 3 copies of UP (FACOZ, remaster and Goodwood CD), I shan't bother with this one - but props to beardy on this one. Buy up, completists, a very worthy cause.

A reference to the recent legal issues, not a comment on whether I like it or not. Hooky isn't the only owner of the copyright, surely the other song writers are.

The internet has ample copyright material for you to research on there, to help you get a better understanding of the law. And it does vary from country to country..

If there's two more on the vinyl, there's two less on the CD. UNless the vinyl runs over 88 minutes I'm not sure why there are two less on the CD. Are cD purchasers lesser consumers?
Is it the full show, or the UP element of it?

Wasn't me, unfortunately I had no time to take footage, or even see the show for that matter,apart from a few moments here and there. The footage is still up there on Youtube, which a guy from Melbourne took, that was really good quality.

The 2lp vinyl is under 80 minutes. The CD will come in a nice digipac, the vinyl has the two extra tracks from an encore in Sydney. For those who still appreciate and want to purchase the vinyl, we made it worth their while.
It is the full 'unknown Pleasures' show made up of the 2 nights. Here is the tracklisting and info. The release has been put together in exact sequence of the performanes for continuity.

The CD should have the bonus tracks, not the LP:-(
At least the bonus tracks should be available as downloads in wave format, for which I'm happy to pay for.
Worth their while? If you count paying £13 for two extra vinyl-only tracks then you then have to needledrop rip to WAV or MP3, tag, add, and then reload to your MP3 player and computer is "worth my while", then sure it is. Not everyone has the space, time, or ability to do that. I have kids. And a cat. Those two love scratching spinning discs on a record player. And having vinyl takes up a LOT of space. Still... nice, shiny less-than-80-minutes-vinyl-object.
If there is a valid reason (such as a lack of space on the CD) I understand not including songs on the CD release. The exclusion of material when there is space for them on the CD is baffling. In this day and age, when people who still BUY music are a rare enough commodity, deliberately removing value and slicing songs off a release is madness. Don't give people less reasonms to buy their product. There will be people that don't want to buy truncated product when the full show is only available in vinyl fetishist format. I can't listen to vinyl when I'm out of the house. And that's where I listen to most of my music. Not in front of a vinyl deck, fighting off a hyperactive cat and a grabby child.
"Percieved Value" is important here : people are prepared to pay for something when they feel they are getting value for it. When you remove value, and take off content, that lowers the value of the product. It's up to you. I'll just add the missing encore tracks off an audience bootleg of the respective show and live with the drop in quality. Up to you. But this kind of stuff will aggreive potential customers. There's no reason to take the songs off the CD release, apart from pleasing vinyl-sniffing nerds.

As far as I'm aware, the 2 extra tracks will be on the 'legal' download. The CD was based on the set that was played in Melbourne, which was 16 tracks (substituated with what I felt were better performances from Sydney of certain tracks). The extra tracks added to the vinyl, was a last minute decision.
You are entitled to your opinion, and alot of people will have the same one as yourself, but we can't please everyone. Let's be grateful it actually is a physical release and not a download only one.
