The thinner the paper these magazines get printed on, the more bleedin' expensive the cover prices.
What fucking gives?
Most mags are now almost a FIVER!!!
No wonder magazine circulation figures are suffering..

Well, there's a downward spiral in progress.
As the circulation goes down, the costs need to be cut, and the cover price goes up to help fill the financial void. This leads to even less sales, leading to more cost cutting and higher cover prices....etc etc until dead.
It will probably eventually go digital, and besides, there are only so many articles that can be written on the Doors/Beatles/Dylan/Floyd/Neil Young/Freebass.... I bought it today, contains some interesting quotes alright.
I do like to get magazines like this from time to time, because they clearly are for the more cultured/acquired listener.
They look back on artists from the past who we cherish and give us occasionally some new insights into their careers, but also open up some new artists to me who I will never get to hear through the spoon-fed capitalist/corporate-sponsored commercial radio which has the same ten artists [usually r&b] playing on every station.
Don't get me wrong, I'd still buy them too if only they weren't a fiver an issue. Used to buy the weeklies until one by one they all went to the wall - or (in the NME's case) went completely crap.

yes
i was a collector of the nme back then and have 2 scrapbooks of articles and pictures relating to the emergence of JD pre pleasures onwards.
my daughter won't even read NME it's so bad. So I bought Mojo, a good 4 page? article on JD NO plus CD of new songs/bands so we are both happy with the purchase! £4.50. Not so bad!

I'll second that, Mojo and Uncut usually have something of interest to say. 'Q' is and always will be crap though. NME was better in it's 'rebel stance' period, its all very corporate now.
