NO live this summer??

According to Les Inrockuptibles (dated today), NO would reform for a charity gig late August in France :eek3: and (quote) "Hooky ne sera pas de la party" (end of quote): "Hooky will not be part of the show". So what do you make of that?? :feedback:

Three (or four including Phil) people want to be called New Order and one doesn't -- seems the majority win. It'd be great if Gillian were back into it, for one.

I'll also say, with due respect to Hooky, the Light stuff feels like he's become a cover band of himself. Suck it up and apologize to the others and get back in the fold!

It wouldn't be New Order without Hooky. I think he went to his lawyer to stop Steve and Barney using the name New Order before they recorded the Bad Lieutenant album. Hooky was a crucial part of the Order; the very soul of the band so the idea that Barney and Steve would continue as NO without him is inconceivable.

I agree. Not sure about him being 'the soul' of the band but as indentifiable as Bernards vocals, Stephens Drums and, er, well two's enough to be going on with.

Hmmmm Gillian... :thumb:

Get in Jim Reilly I say.

Where did they source this information from? It sounds like bollocks to me, plain old rumour mongering. Why would Barney and Steve feel the need to reconvene as New Order when they're already working together (on a new album) as Bad Lieutenant? And Hooky's already threatened them with legal action if they use the New Order name, so why would they risk that now if they didn't risk it four years ago?

I'm sorry but I'm taking this with a hefty pinch of salt unless any more reliable sources come out.

Well agreed. And what are the chances of them ever pulling together a gig in two months time?

And why bloody France? Am i going to have to put up with loads of c___s trying to sell me souvenir Eiffel Towers again?

 Depends on where (and when!) you hang around :D As for the reliability of the source, Les Inrocks is usually quite accurate so...

If they were to announce this French gig for charity minus Hooky and he tried to prevent it from happening then he would look like the villian! Be careful Hooky,it's a trick!:nono:

I think Barney, Steve, Phil and Gillian should just carry on as NEW ORDER.

Ditch the Bad Lt. label and take whatever legal flak may come.

New Order can carry on without Hooky. It'd be better if he was in the group, but the group could go on without him; other groups have done the same in history. Maybe if New New Order gave Hooky a small percentage of ongoing royalties that would solve the problem.

Legal flak as in unable to release material, perform live etc?

If Hooky is finished with New Order then why not let them carry on? He'd still get a percentage.

Will we be able to take photos inside the gig? :evil4:

Would be great if this happened, shame it seems Hooky isn't interested. If they do reunite this year hope there's some UK dates. Although can't see this happening as it does seem a bit short notice and given the legal issues would they go out as New Order?

Hooky was barely on Republic and that sounded great.

Oh... wait... I've got that wrong, haven't I?

Just get me in to play bass. I can play bits of some songs, just stick the rest on tape

Another long thread all about how it's 'not NO without Hooky', all because someone's got something wrong, or lost in translation etc.

What's the betting it's because BL are playing a festival in France?

So,there seems quite a lot of you who would rather see everything that New Order have built up and become be brought to what amounts to a fookin parody as it would have one integral, very important part missing? Really?! Just to see the other three perform live? They already have done, they're called Bad Lieutenant, they already fookin play N.O. songs!! No disrespect to Phil at all,but IMO,he wasn't N.O. to me,it changed the dynamic, and to a lesser degree too,as it did when Rob died.I think it's complete bollocks they would even consider it,it would be close to getting like the fookin Sugababes!! I do not want to see my favourite band for over 25 years become a fookin jokey, cabaret act just for the sake of a few quid and a bit of nostalgia, there's no point,at all, keep some fookin dignity and don't sour the name.Please.And for those of you who want this, think about what you are wanting to see,'cos for me,I can't honestly see you as a true fan if you do :nono:

And for those of you who are going to come back with what Hooky has done with UP & Closer,it is not the same thing at all :nono:

I thought I'd see what all the fuss was about but there doesn't seem to be any sign of the story anywhere on t'internet, a rumour disproved and swiftly removed perhaps?

NO without Hooky is the same as The Light without him indeed

I hope they know better: NO played in Paris in 2001 as part of 'le Festival des Inrocks'... and BL was billed in 2009! So if they mixed up the two bands... :spit:

There wasn't this much fuss when they gigged without Gillian.

She's a much more integral part of NO than people seem to think...

If she came back then you have most members of New Order so they should be allowed to carry on as New Order.

Or how about BL changing there name to "The Other Three"

Agreed. I love Peter Hook, brilliant musician and awesome guy, but he alone did not define New Order, both in terms of songwriting and sound. Bernard's voice, synth work, production, songwriting, Steve's drumming and programming, and Gillian's synth melodies were just as important to New Order's sound as Hooky's bass.

Yeah that interview ruled out Bernard and Hooky working together but I guess Gillian could always do a few gigs with Bad Lieutenant. Also the impression I get is that if it were possible Bad Lieutenant wouldn't exist they'd still be called New Order.
