Everything's Gone Green is the glaring omission. Isolation doesn't belong there.
A single disc set doesn't do the 2 bands output justice. It should have been a double disc. It just looks very thin at the latter end, one single per album is too little. Of course, they chose the wrong singles off Technique, but heigh ho.
The capacity limits of a quick'n'cheap single CD release require there to be many omissions.
But the worst thing about this latest re-hash for cash is that Technique is represented by Fine Time alone when there are so many tracks, including 2 other singles, on that album which are sooooo much better.
"Dead Souls" in one of their more famous songs in a wider sense. Shame that didn't make it. Think "Digital" would fill the place as a single better than "Isolation" also.
"Everything's Gone Green" is essential to me, thou I suppose it didn't fit. "Run" is a great song, would think the casual listener would skip over "Fine Time".
Maybe next they can have a Total Extended 2 disc set special limited edition with a special new remix of all the versions of "Blue Monday" mixed together. Maybe one disc for JD, one disc for NO. Or a remix "Total", they have not had a remix collection since the rather awkward The Rest Of... Saville can make the sleeve black with the same Total design.
They will keep making new collections every few years as long as anybody notices anymore.

With the exception of Isolation which was never a single, all the selections appear to be the highest charting single (globally) of that particular year or era. Fine Time did better overall than any other single off Technique, though if they wanted to stick purely to singles, maybe Dead Souls or Komakino would have made more sense than Isolation.
Yay... voted for Confusion to find that it's the most popular vote so far. Ok it could be Barney's worst singing ever but it's a significant part of New Order's history IMO.
And of course I mean the Arthur Baker version, not the 1987 version, which good as it is, is missing the funkiness of the original.

On the subject of 'Confusion', I remixed it earlier in the year if anyone would like a listen over on www.whitepress.eu if they're bored.
Went to Hooky's show two weeks ago in Dublin and I'll have to raise a pair of upwardly pointing fingers to his critics who say he is cashing in or whatever - that was without a doubt the best gig I've ever been to, and I've been to a lot.
