If you're in the UK...

Confusion

It doesn't end for another nine days, but it may end up being a lot cheaper than buying from any of the OOP book sites. It is currently going for about £30 on amazon (UK)... used.

Try WH Smith or RBooks?

Failing that, ebay

They might not be able to get it, but you never know...

Got mine a few months ago off Amazon for a tenner.

It's a really good book though so don't feel disappointed if you have to pay more.

It's bound to be repackaged with a new cover every couple of years or so and then sold for £3 at Fopp (where I picked up my Peter Hook one about the Hacienda for just £5)

That's what has happened to the Deborah Curtis "Touching From A Distance" book at any rate....now onto it's eighth reprint with as many new covers.

And every time it's reprinted, some well-meaning family member thinks "Ooh, Dave likes that Joy Division, I'll get him this book for Christmas/his birthday/being wonderful"... I'm sure I have at least 4 copies...

I was somewhat disappointed with the book. Just boring, sorry. Basically it's a narrative of JD/NO history. The most interesting part was about his childhood and Bernard's own side remarks, some of them are priceless. But barely anything about his song writing process, his peculiar personality from a psychological point of view, his Electronic/side-project days, how his musical weltanschauung developed with time.

I get more information from his 2009-2010 interviews than this.

It feels the book has the right idea but it misses a lot.

I can imagine. I really believe what you mean because I've seen other people saying something similar on the net. But... Bernard make it on his fans. It's a naive attempting to be a little bit connected to his mind.

I'll keep on trying... but I don't know how...

I decided not to buy it, although I could...I just remember Bernard as a private person and I recall he'd been against the book in the first place. So no book for me. I have Hook's Hacienda book though.

Yeah, but amazingly Bernard was given the raw version and he provided side-remarks that the author included in the book. But it'd sure inetersting if Bernard will ever set to write a book :shades:
